You can't rebuild without decent picks.
You can't win by throwing money away at players. |

but you can accidentally tank repeatedly by failing at both, at least that's the one positive in all of this
Brackett and his scouting buddies can hopefully do enough so that the next GM can actually have a good enough core to build around |

We all knew JB would not be here to see the team truly succeed.
That will be the next GMs job. |

Hopefully they make the right choice, they've tried to go full Moneyball and full old school, it's time for some nice cohesive balance.
I like what the Leafs had with Lou, Dubas and Hunter. A nice mix of everything while it lasted. |

I think we're 3 GMs away from succeeding. |

Carol, I have to agree with you. I was saying earlier today at work that markstrom may be our best player the last few months. I really really love pettersson but I think markstrom has earned mentioned. He's a player rising above and leading by example. I hope he wins an award for it |

Linden Didn't want Beagle and Schaller, he's gone and good riddance, without the heart those guys show we wouldn't be so close to the wildcard.
Only 6 points back with 16 games to go, that means 3 more wins then the other guys.

Vezina
I blame Clark, he's done an amazing job. Shows the importance of having a great goalie coach. |

Just remember that even the great goalie coach Rollie Melanson couldn't fix the patented Luongo belly flop. |

Pretty sure I agreed with you on Markstrom. Even though I have been one of his biggest critics in the past. Both are positives yes.
Anywho. Jake, Joulevi, Boeser, Petey, McCann and Hughes are his first round picks since he took over. Other than the Boeser pick everyone here questioned his picks. Hell even I questioned Pettersson. Only 2 people here had an eye on Petey.
He picked Jake I liked Ehlers. He picked Joulevi I liked Sergachev or Tkachuk. He picked Pettersson I liked Makar and Kostin. He picked Hughes I liked Kravtsov and Wahlstrom. I am not perfect either but I am also only an armchair GM.
I am not dwelling on the past but he should be judged by it. Thats how it works. - thundachunk
I think you are dwelling more on the future than the past. Its not too early to say Jake was a bonehead pick but after that... it's too early to fire a GM over the rest of those examples. Cant predict setbacks from injuries(OJ), EP is a home run, Hughes... you wanted someone else but thats not grounds for firing and most scouts think its a home run for the Canucks... it's crazy to say he should be judged poorly for those picks after JV. Most GM's dont get it right in the 1st round as often as you are demanding. Fantasy.

I hope Lou wins the cup. Multiple orgasms if the Leafs get bounced in the first.

All will be forgiven with a win Wednesday.
Then, a few hard fought games to end the season. |

WOW , a little adversity and the rats jump ship, the "experts " rant I told you so , and naysayers nit pick . the team has made a huge step , we have a franchise Center who is getting the best of every team he faces, we have seen a goalie develop before our eyes , and some young D take huge strides, there is a lot to look forward to next season . I see a team taking shape before our eyes and a little heartbreak and failure teaches them how to take the next step. Man up and back our boys |
