Panarin would be money but it's a pipe dream. Ferland looks good but his contract will suck. Same as Karlsson. Myers? Ederle has no spine.
- LordHumungous

Ya that article said Eberle, Simmonds and Ferland.
That's three no's for me.

Gardiner, Myers and Karlsson are the D he mentions. I'd be happy with any of those if the money is right. JB has a penchant for overpaying though, but they are all fairly young at least.

I see it as 1.5/3, at best

Beagle is meh to me, and he's only going to get older/slower, turns 34 next year. Roussel was a nice signing. Schaller is worse than Gaunce and Archibald.

- Nucker101

I'm willing to give Beagle next year and a full season to prove his worth. Most here aren't because they get fogged up in what he gets paid. He should have a better roster to work with next season technically IMO.

At least that feeling is only setting in now and not in mid-late January like the last couple years. Progress
- NorthNuck

True - most were ok until late Feb and now the entire fan base seems to be enraged

Yes, really.

He's not going up against top lines and is providing next to nothing offensively. He's a decent checker and good on face-offs. Not worth his contract, but a decent useful player, and again I'm judging his contract cap hit and term, not his play this year. In a cap world, you can't just judge players base don their roles, their cap hit and age/contract length matters too.

Not sure what Sutter has to do with looking at Beagle objectively, it's like people saying "at least he's not another LE!". Embarrassingly low bar.

That's true the D are pretty young. Ederle and Simmonds no but Ferland would be great if we got some value on his contract but doubt that would be the case.

Not worth the term nor the dollars. Another Benning over-reach at free agency. His pro scouting is a f*cking disaster. The sooner he is fired the better.

Jets fans treat Myers as a whipping boy, I'd pass and let someone else take that risk. If he's struggling on that Jets team, imagine how he'd look on the Canucks

Gardiner is a whipping boy for some Leafs fans for being bad defensively, but at least he's a really good offensive dman. I'd be cool with him.

Karlsson is a pipe dream.

There was some very interesting conversation today on SN650 talking about Loui . I am not sure how much is realistic but they mentioned Loui having to earn a spot next year. His bas salary next year is 1 mil and also the following year. His bonuses are 4 mil next year and 3 mil the following year.

I am not sure what those bonuses are based on but they said if he is sent to Utica next year he may not be qualified for those bonuses so he would be playing for 1 mil for the next two years. It would not help the cap but it may light a fire under his ass that if he wants to get paid he needs to improve his game.

- VANTEL

I think the bonus money is for signing bonus as i dont think loui qualifies for performance bonuses, only for elc and 35+ i think.

But you're to thin skinned to handle the fan hate.

Give me 6 mill a year and I would not only embrace it, but probably provoke it

Yeah I follow the Jets not sure on Myers either.

I wouldn't be opposed to Gardiner. If he has the right defensive supporting (Tanev lol) D partner he could be good here. That's one thing TO hasn't done is provide him the support he needs with a partner.

Yeah JB would be stupid not to test the waters on Karlsson but he ain't coming here lol

ya good point. In todays NHL how do we get past the injury bug though? Players seem to be more injured now than ever?

Dragon can you shed some light on this from a medical standpoint?

Especially for a dude who’s game involves hitting/fighting.

If he didn’t have the history, I wouldn’t mind him at all to play the Tom Wilson role with EP

Yup. I would like to see Roussel tried in the top6 more. He's been one of our more productive guys and brings a bit of that. Ferland for 3 years at 5-6 I could handle. But some team will offer 5 or more years probably

Roussel has had some good games with Bo. If a good top 6 skilled winger was added to that line, they’d have a nice mix of everything.

I'd like to see him with EP and Boeser even. Create some space and bring some forecheck.

Every UFA has an injury history and if they don't they will, I would rather avoiding high end UFAs until the team is further along.

I don;t think he will be as horrible . I think Pitts has a better D structure . I think he will be playing with a better partner than Hutton and Pouliot, and most of all Pens usually have the puck in the other end.

Win-win then

Not sure I care much about losing a guy who needs to ride coattails to succeed. You can find those guys easily once you have an actual good team.
