Yup. Then you look back at the season and you see Cal Pickard as a starter, JVR injured right out of the gate, Simmonds recovering from abdominal surgery and clearly not himself, a bunch of young Dmen, Hexy fired, Hakstol fired,...and lo and behold there they are in the t hick of it at the end of the season. Bodes well for the future.
- Lexington Flyer
Didn't Pickard only start like 3-4 games during the 2nd and 3rd week?
I'm not saying they didn't have a perfect storm of injuries/regression/bad goaltending/etc, but it's not like they went into the season banking on Pickard being their starter. Granted, it is their fault not addressing the goaltending concerns during the summer. |

It's good advice, and with most of the posters I like either gone or rarely visiting, I can't say I'll miss being here. Other than popping in to read Bill's blogs, I'm outta here.
Oh, and MJL, please feel free to eat a large bag of Richards.

Yup - clear the whole franking dance floor. That said, no need to ask someone to dance when all you really want to do is slew foot them to the floor.
It's not difficult at all to completely ignore a poster that you don't like. I do it every day. See their post, scroll on by. Simple. |

I agree. Just saying, it's not always the same side that is out for the slew foot.
For instance, there are times when I'll ask another poster a legit question, and God himself a different poster will chime in with a belligerent response which only serves to start a pissing match.
I've tried my best to simply ignore that individual because I have no time for him and his shenanigans, and I just wish everyone else, including that poster, could just do the same. |

Responding to you, but it's advice for everyone: Just ignore who you don't care for. It's really that simple.
I hate to see some folks leave but if that's how it has to be and it makes here a little more sane, so be it. I come here for legit hockey talk (and the occasional off-topic diversions), not pissing contests trying to change someone else's opinion.
Ignore those you don't care for.

When exactly do these anthem rankings come out? Apparently, Lauren Hart is (not was) the #1 ranked anthemist in the NHL. She probably was, maybe 15 years ago, but she's clearly not as good as she was. Not saying she's a bad singer, just not as good what she used to be.
Still would. |

For what's it's worth, it is NOT unfathomable to believe that the Isles, Canes, Pens, or Canadiens could falter down the stretch. Regardless, we need to keep picking up 2 regulation points and we have an extremely difficult schedule. BUT, unless 2 teams from above start to fall apart, we do not make the playoffs.
Sorry. I feel dirty for typing that, but our early season "mess" is just too great to overcome. |

She's always a beat or two behind the SSB backing track, drives me nuts.

I do think 2 of those teams, likely the Isles and Canes, could falter...but I don't think the Flyers can overcome that. Still, this team has (finally) become enjoyable to watch, and that wasn't the case earlier. But as much as it's cliche, just take it 1 game at a time and try to pick up 2 points every night, and don't worry about things you can't control. |

Bill,
A little off topic but what do you think about Wyatt Kalynuk? I have been watching some of his games and he really seems to have some really good skill. Good skater at 6'1''. Should fill out a little more but he seems to have a pretty good offensive game. Not saying he is as dynamic as Gostisbehere but he can make plays and is all over the ice for Wisconsin.
i know Miller gets lot of the attention but Kalynuk provides just as much impact for that team.
Also do you see the Flyers maybe trying to get into the college free agent market this year or do you think they will spend more time in maybe trying to sign guys like Allison and Lacynzki? - J35Bacher
1) Kalynuk is a good, late-blooming offensive-minded D prospect. Still has room to improve without the puck. Worth signing.
2) I do think the organization will try to sign Laczynski and Allison again this spring, even with the change of GM and AGM. Laczynski has had some injury issues this season but has shown over his collegiate career that he is a good bottom-six type of prospect. Allison had a long road back from the ACL tear and then an unrelated injury, but the main thing is that he is healthy now.

Note: McKenna had not played for the Flyers when I made the list. Gudas is about fit and roster space for the top defenseman on my wish list. Although Ghost is becoming a strong possibility instead. Either would be easy to find a trade partner and get a nice return, maybe fill a different spot.
Flyers 2019 Trade Chart

Elliott
Stolarz - Edmonton for NHL G Cam Talbot
Gudas
Folin - MTL w/Weise for NHL/AHL D David Schlemko, AHL/NHL F Byron Froese
