All I have to say is no GM/Team out there wants Raffl, AMac, and Nuevy for their better players. If we could all just agree on that, I think this forum would be much better off.

Things are looking good for 2019-2020. Interesting to see the pieces that Flecth removes and adds but we have the base for a very good year. Strong finish in the top 3 of the Metro. No more Wildcard for us.

- cdearth23

That was my wish going into this season. That along with not having to scratch and claw for a playoff spot in the final two weeks. I will take a rain check for next season.

(Note: Willing to roll with the punches and fully support the scratching and clawing this 2nd half.)

I have a simple suggestion. For the sake of the board and the quality of the conversation, enough of this. If you have a problem with me, PM and we'll talk about it like men rather than this. Let's get back to hockey. Nothing wrong with disagreeing. Disagree with me all you want. This is a hockey website not a therapist session.

I really do think this team is going to turn a corner and move from the inconsistency. The younger players are getting better for the most part. We just need Patrick to take a step forward like Sanheim has and for Gostisbehere to get back to where he was. I think we've found the answer in goal. I think next season the Flyers step up from being a bubble class team. Probably not a true contender but a step down from that.

I approach coming in here like I'm in the locker room or hanging out with my buddies. There's going to be some rough language, insults and stupidity. No big deal. Maybe because I'm an older guy (55) I don't get too worked up if someone disagrees with me. I don't like when there's racism, anti-semitism, and misogyny here. When there is I'll lose interest and just go somewhere else for entertainment. But, if someone's just disagreeing with me...no big deal. I'm pretty comfortable with who I am, at this point in my life. If some faceless person, on a hockey blog, says I have a stupid opinion I don't really care. It seems like most here are complaining about MJL. I don't think he and I share political views, but he seems very bright and knowledgeable and I have to admit half the reason I read these comments is to see what he has to say. I don't think he really takes shots at people personally. He criticizes people's opinions, but he seems pretty respectful to me. He's a bull-dog and I know it get's tiresome. He will not concede. Don't enter into debate with him if it bothers you when someone tells you your opinions are wrong or stupid. To me it seems like he just really likes to debate and he's pretty good at it. It doesnt seem personal to me. He, as well as the majority of folks here, seem like pretty decent people with some interesting things to say.

1. When someone tells you that your opinion/thoughts are asinine or stupid or ridiculous how is that not a personal attack? He isn't saying YOU ARE A... he's just saying your opinions and thoughts ARE.... wow what a difference.

2. You don't need to enter into a debate with him personally to have him "get nasty".

This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen more often then not.

What's more important, Pittsburgh missing the playoffs or the Flyers potentially making them?

Again, I'm not disagreeing with you at all. You just seem very dismissive of the fact when it's one particular individual who comes in with no other intention than to stir the pot. That's all.
- jmatchett383

I'm not dismissive. I don't like when anyone does it. As someone else mentioned, sometimes things people say when they're being richardish make me laugh, but most times not.

I get that he gets ganged up on, but he usually brings it upon himself...maybe not for something done that day, but for repeated past transgressions. If you assume that someone's going to act a certain way towards you based upon the past, you may start to get feisty in return.

Yup - I understand. That's why there are some folks on my internal "never respond to them" list. It makes my experience here better.

Yes Raffl does, but the likely-hood of getting a trade done might be down significantly since he wasn’t traded at the deadline and he is a UFA this summer. Who knows, he could be on Fletcher’s keep list.

I can say 100% with certainty that Raffl will be employed in the NHL next year as a NHL player.

- MJL

Yes. Everyone else is wrong, and the one person that agrees with you is sane. This is exactly what everyone is talking about. Most people would take a moment to "check" themselves.

I was glad this came out on the board because maybe it would get through... obviously not.

You do realize you just called everyone's reasonable concerns insane right?

I have no problem with you disagreeing with me, or anyone else. I don't even care if you select the tiniest detail, zero in on it and turn it into pages of discussion... its the belittling that you do that most people cant stand. Try and work on it.

That's a pretty good description. Like many others here, though, myself included, he does know how to get off a pretty good less-than-subtle jab from time to time, but I don't recall them being of the personal nature.

I like nearly every one of the regulars here - including most of the ones who left for greener pastures. I don't always agree, I try my best to not get personal, and sometimes some posts bug me, but mostly it's all very cool.

I understand your point of how the team is inconsistent and has been for a number of years and how it has been with the same core. That's a point that's hard to argue. I think more talent and better players will go a long way to fixing that issue.

I never said I agree with MJL. I try to be respectful to everyone here. I just said he doesn’t bother me. He don’t think he personally attacks anyone. The attacks on him seem more personal than anything he says. Anyway he has offered to work it out personally and privately with you. Why not contact him?

Things around here are actually a lot better than what they once were. I think if a person takes things too far, you should PM them, to take the heat off the board, because frankly, nobody cares. Jmatchette, Jsaq, MJL and a handful of other know first hand that when I’m pissed, I’ll PM them.

Here’s the problem. There are some guys on here, that are so low as a life form, that when you trying to take this kind of high road, they’ll take what you said and bring it back to the board so you can continue to be mocked.

My assumption is that the average age here is about mid 30’s and up. If you’re in your 40’s or 50’s and attacking anyone for any reason, that just sounds like a personal struggle of your own. Everyone knows I’m far from perfect but I think we gotta look at ourselves before we can change others.

I agree. Just saying, it's not always the same side that is out for the slew foot.

For instance, there are times when I'll ask another poster a legit question, and God himself a different poster will chime in with a belligerent response which only serves to start a pissing match.

I've tried my best to simply ignore that individual because I have no time for him and his shenanigans, and I just wish everyone else, including that poster, could just do the same.

- jmatchett383

It would be amazing if ek made a mute poster option so everyone can just mute mjl so it’s less irritating to be on these boards

I'm on board with this post. However, I really want them to turn that corner sooner rather than later. Not saying this because I'm simply an impatient fan. I'm saying it because G aint getting any younger, and IMO his value to this team is immense. Question his leadership skills if you want (I know I have in the past), but his on ice production has been one of the few positive consistensies for this team for a long time. When that starts to slip, I think it will be harder to replace than some realize. So I'm just really hoping that this process gets moved along quick enough to take advantage of the few elite years that beleive G has left.
This is also why I am not opposed to being players in FA. Within reason of course

He's one of the most popular guys in the room.

Probably smart of Fletch to not move Simmer and Raff out at the same time, especially when the team is mostly feeling good and winning games.

I wouldn't mind bringing him back, as long as it doesn't block the pipeline.

I agree, Giroux isn't going to stay a top player forever. That's why we need Patrick and hopefully other young players who are coming to take over and form the core of the team. If that doesn't happen than this team won't get there. I do however think that Giroux has 5 years or so left of being a really good player barring any serious injuries.
