That's where I am with Raffl. He does good things, but I don't want him blocking the advancement of one of the young kids that deserve it. - johndewar
I think deserve it is the key word. There are many factors that go into whether a young player is promoted or demoted. The biggest thing is that obviously a young player has to outplay an older player for the most part. Young players have been brought up and given opportunities that they haven't seized. The worst thing that can be done in my opinion is give a young player a spot or ice time without earning it. One other thing that needs to be reinforced. All that playing well in the AHL earns you is an opportunity. Nothing more. |

Believe so, same class s Frost
Really excited for frost. Last off season they told him to put on weight, he got up to 185, I think the kid will have another great summer and bring it in camp - wcorvette
If Frost and Ratcliffe don’t make the Flyers out of camp, the Phantoms will be getting much needed scoring from both those guys.

My gut tells me Allison stays in school because of his lost year this year recovering from injury.
Laczynski, Ratcliffe and Frost will be the ones to watch in terms of new blood that may challenge for a spot.
Laczynski could easily be Raffl with more upside if they keep him at wing.
Frost has so much upside I want him learning from G as soon as possible. Ratcliffe on the 3rd line wing wouldn't be awful....looks like the sniper we've been hoping for until Allison and Farabee are ready |

It would be amazing if ek made a mute poster option so everyone can just mute mjl so it’s less irritating to be on these boards - Richieattack18
Let's be honest, without MJL these boards would only be 2-3 pages long. I appreciate his opinion because he makes me think and analyze my opinion. its just sometimes.....
I told him in a PM, but I think it is deserved to hear some good things in public as well. |

with how the youngens are playing it made me think of the future, then I thought of Pitt, then I smiled big. Flyers have more and more kids coming, so many that the odds the Flyers can fill out their bottom 6 internally is real. Then you add what they have in the NHL already, a couple FA's/trades and boom. Then there is Pitt, once you get past Crosby and Malkin there is not much left. Yes they have a few but the cupboard is pretty empty. It will be sad when G is no longer an elite talent, it will be offset because Crosby will also be a lot less than he is now... - wcorvette
I will not hold it past Pittsburgh to trade Crosby and Malkin at the end of their careers and completely restock their team and still be very good. |

Of course, I agree with MJL about parts of issues a lot of the time. And he is a worthy adversary in debate! (Meant as a compliment.)

I can see that for Malkin. All I see if they trade Crosby is tears. Not mine. |

I think Malkin would be more likely, but I doubt either one. The return wouldn't be good enough. |

Malkin maybe, but I think Crosby is a lifer. He's not just their best player, he's the face of the franchise and a 3-time Stanley Cup champion captain. Players like that (Sakic and Yzerman come to mind) don't get traded often. Sure, Messier and Gretzky both were traded, but Gretzky went due to money and Messier was traded after having already been dealt. It could happen, but I think Crosby retires as a Penguin. |

I think we can all agree that the Flyers should do the right thing, sign Lindros, LeClair, and Renberg to 1-day deals to play game 82 as our top line and let the LOD retire as Flyers. We may lost 16-2 with that line being a combined -36, but it will be worth it.

I think most of us just wish that he'd be more tolerant of viewpoints/opinions that don't align with his own, and not always dominate the conversation in general.
I don't hate the guy or anything, but he tends to suck the air out of the room. |

What if Game 82 determines whether Flyers or Canes make the playoffs!? Could be 2010 all over again we can get to the finals to get crushed by disappointment |

Favorite current Flyers prospect who has not yet played for the Flyers or Phantoms? Favorite, not necessarily the one with the highest ceiling by position. - NC Flyers Fan
Wade Allison. Another Hartnell in the making. Tough tough year for him |

I refuse to be disappointed if that is the outcome. Playoff experience, youth on the rise, salary cap space...no where to go but up!

Lacysinski and frost are a cut above ratcliffe as far as nhl readiness goes imo. Those are the two |
