I say 10. - Matthews_Auston . You'll be very lucky to get him for 10.... it better happen before he can be offer sheeted because someone will will, if he hasn't signed and then it going to be closer to 12-14 I'd bet. |

Skinner is above 50% on faceoffs and is one of two forwards on this team with a positive +/- (I know flawed stat)
I am not so sure he is as much of a liability as people think. - Stripes77
No, because he's the one player not named Eichel that Housley actually plays in a correct role. He gets 68%! O-Zone starts. And he's never on the ice EV in OT, and when he has he's gotten scored on. But if he was as misused as Risto people would be ready to run him out of town too. |

Which is why Housley needs to go
As far as OT goes Skinner should be on the ice with Jack if the Sabres win the opening faceoff Sheary should go right to the bench.
Getting scored on in 3 on 3 doesn't matter that much to me and shouldn't others. |

In normal situations, no, but losing a point would hurt a good team. On the PP in OT? Put him out there, he had those goals during the streak in OT but they were PP goals.
This team would be much better, maybe win three in a row once in a while even, if Housley would just play guys where they fit. I'm a big Risto fan, but I know what he's not; he's not a shutdown defenseman. And yet, he was on the ice for 24 of McDavid's 29 shifts last night, on purpose! That's inexcusable. Might as well give Dahlin his medicine now, so he knows what he needs to do and flip their roles so Dahlin's out there for every hard shift. |

Picking on a man because when he was a kid he had bed sheets of his favourite NHL team. Really classy.

If I'm Botteril, here's my offseason moves:
1. Sign Skinner
2. Try to get out from under the cap hits of any/all of the following players: Okposo, Hunwick, Scandella, Sobotka. I'd try to target Ottawa here because they are going to have to put some salary on the books just to reach the cap floor next year.
3. Look to trade Risto for some offensive help. I still think other GM's see a lot of value in him and I think he could net a top 6 forward. Swing back around to Tampa Bay in the offseason, especially if they win the cup. It sure feels like one of their $5 million per guys might be available if Point isn't.
4. Look in either the UFA or trade market for a solid, experienced NHL defensemen to add to the roster. Two if you can. Maybe Adam McQuaid or a guy like Carl Gunnarsson.
5. Pick up one of the decent UFA forwards that will be out on the market: Johansson, Ferland, Brassard, Dzingel, Simmonds, Lee, Nyquist, Hayes. We may have to overpay a little, but target them early and go right after them.
6. Fire Housley. I can't stand the idea of starting over with a new coach, but it's just not working. Murray and Bylsma got fired because we only got 81pts coming off the tank year. Two years later, if we play .500 hockey the rest of the season (which we have not been able to do for the past 3 months), we will finish with 82pts.
I don't know if these moves will get us into the playoffs, but it might stop the bleeding. |

Good write up Michael
I thought you made a few really good points.
Eichel needed to shoot, not pass it to the 8th defenseman on the team.
Sometimes the Sabres act like the globetrotters, instead of taking the shot. Mitts was also guilty last night of being a showman.
Erod does this almost every game. |

As long as Eugene Melnyk owns the Sens, you will not trading any of those guys to them. Melnyk will want to trade for cap hits, not real money. All those guys cap hits are same or very close to same in real money. Maybe he takes one of Scandella, Sobatka or Hunwick because the only have 1 year left, if you pay him enough to do it. No way he touches Okposo with that many years.
Melnyk will be looking for guys like Marleau and Luongo and hope they call it a day, and trade for their contract after July 1st. He probably has wet dreams just think about 11 million cap hit with no real money spent.
