only way now is to tank it up and try and get Kakko/Podkolzin. right know they have a 3.5 chance of winning the lottery.

Boldy would look nice on Eichel’s wing as well. I’m also a fan of Krebs. If Zegras or Turcotte falls to where we are picking then that works too. I think Podkolzin will fall due to the Russian factor. Apparently he’s comfy in Russia and isn’t in a rush to come over to North America. Perhaps that leads to a Kuznetsov type fall to late in the first round. |

I don't think he'll be ready. He'll need some time in Rochester. It could be crowded in goal there next year with Johansson, Wilcox, 6K and maybe Wedgewood although the Sabres might not give him a qualifying offer. If 6K's season ends early, I'd like to see him play a few games in Cincinnati. - mhp
murray won a cup with the pens at 21
botts was assistant gm
6k will be 21 next may if team is on a deep playoff run next fall
plus I heard botts will carry 3 goalies in the fall if 6k is that much better then the 2 in training camp

6k could be a gamechanger for the sabres.
Interesting: jbotts
Protected ullmark in the expansion draft
Signed hutton via free agency
Drafted 6k
Kinda has his hand in all 3 goalies in less then 2 years. |

I hope for our sake 6K is really that good. I just can’t remember the last time a goalie skipped AHL and went right to the big leagues. Carter Hart was the most hyped goalie prospect since Price and he even played in the AHL for a bit this year and only make the jump to the NHL out of pure necessity. |

I think it's really hard to go there without adding that we have major team wide defensive issues. - Lunaion
The instigators spent the first hour of their show on this today. Not calling out Housley, but they may as well have. They cited multiple plays where almost the entire team was out of position and didnt look like they had any idea where they were supposed to be. They also mentioned man on man coverage was favored in Nashville because it kept players legs moving and led to dynamic breakouts which clearly isnt working here......at least not for our team. Zone coverage might turn this team around, but its boring and if Housley refuses to implement it, he may be setting himself to fall on the sword if someone explains this to Pegs. its pretty obvious our team chases a lot and it isn't working. This seems like Bylsma 2.0.

(frank)ing Dave Andrepoophead on the Lightning's intermission broadcast.
Always disliked him in Buffalo, and hate seeing his lazy ass on TV now.
In fact, waching Sabres games with Phyllis behind the bench, it brings back bad memories of that underperforming team of entitled asses. |

A coach that can't adapt his scheme to fit his personnel.
Football always comes to mind. Rex comes in after Schwartz leads that D right to the top, and what does he want to do? Change it and implement his 3-4. |

I literally don't know anything about football, and I totally get that probably 50% of our forwards are 4th liners, but the D needs to be better. Instigators even pointed out that the islanders aren't really that much different than us, they're just implementing a system that their guys can play. If Phil insists on pounding square pegs in to round holes, he's gonna run out of time. We have literally gone through 3 coaches that talk about cutting Risto's ice time down, but never do it.

Funny that you mention this, I was thinking the same watching the boys a couple games ago.
Then my mind wandered to thinking how some of these players cant seem to play any system effectively. They need to jettison several players who just plain suck at playing a system effectively.
Risto and Scandella are the worst as it is so obvious watching the Dmen constantly out of position.
Lockport Larry also seems to have difficulty picking up his man and staying with him down low.
I'm sure their are others ... like probably a solid 5 of 6 more.
Botts needs to weed them out, he needs to at least get better assistant coaches if he intends to give Phyllis a run with a vastly improved roster. |

I couldn't believe it when Pitt took him first overall in 2003. It worked out for them. That draft was insanely deep. |

I think Risto has high athleticism and low hockey I.Q. But he and Scandella are the cards Housley has been dealt. He needs to use what he has rather than try to make them do something they cant. Just like how Darcy and Lindy wanted Meyers to become Pronger. I like Ristos edge. Just cut his minutes and give him an assignment he can execute. I think between Pilut and Montaur, we could be in good shape if we just stopped trying to be Nashville. Its clear we're not, but it's all Housley knows.
