Regardless if Shattenkirk refuses to go there I think is a good frame work deal. Rangers get a legit top pr Dman and some more Lemiuex types, and Edm get some capable fowards which they need bad.

I’d be a lil worried about him being just an out of shape guy and this is always an issue. It’s like the second time he was gassed already

I just think he’s used to 7 minutes a night and his body isn’t conditioned for it. I knew he hit/got in the dirty areas etc but I’ve been very impressed with his passing.

If we want to get creative, here is a trade that could work:
Brendan Smith and one of our 2nd round picks to Ottawa for the Senators 5th round pick.
Brendan Smith grew up less than 5 hours away from Ottawa, he might accept trade there to go home. Senators need picks and can actually use the contract to reach the cap floor for next season. We give up a premium pick to clear cap space and a roster spot for one of our kids.

I say keep the 2nd round pick and let his contract run out in 2 years. I don't see cap space being an issue with this team
