Doesn't that just fall under inept Stan that can't trade or sign worth a damn? It's just a sub-category of the signing problem. - I Am The Breadman
Deserves it's own slot, imo, given that it's been repeated enough that it is assumed to be true, despite evidence to the contrary. |

It might be time to tamp down hopes for Soderlund. The talk of him possibly being the next Arvidsson is not playing out as hoped - at least not yet. It was a natural to make the hopeful association because they're the same size, played for the same Swedish team, both quick skaters, both selected in the 4th round with the 112th overall pick, both scored about the same in their age 19/20 seasons (12-14 points).
But that's where it has stopped. Arvidsson scored 40 points in his age 20/21 season and with the season almost over Soderlund has scored only 12 points and can't break into the top-6 on a bad team. There's still time for him, but ... - EbonyRaptor
Thanks for the insights on Soderlund. I couldn't find anything on him since Second City Hockey is only writing about Entwistle. Just kidding.
I have generally noticed that his basic stats have regressed considerably this year. Not sure if European leagues track advanced stats so would be interesting to see how effective he is as a player when not factoring in gross stats like goals and assists. |

Then you just volunteered as tribute to keep the narratives together. I would like a report on my desk in the morning. |

You've been tooting Soderlund's horn for awhile. I hope he lives up to his comparison. When Highmore is back to playing, I'm guessing that he is the next forward to be called up. - I Am The Breadman
Soderlund as Arvidsson Lite may not come anywhere close to fruition but he is a short but stocky pest who likes to go to the dirty areas and create offense from in close. If he can grow on North American ice into a bottom 6 winger who can agitate all over the ice, generate offensive chances, and play solid defense, then he could earn a spot in a few years.
Of the current Rockford forwards, IMHO, Highmore has the best potential to be a solid contributor on the Hawks bottom 6 next season. Fast, relentless, good across all 200 feet, some offense, can play center. |

No one can get past our 6K's! - I Am The Breadman
Bruno Mars would offer up 24 Karat Magic. The Hawks may have 24 K's to reach that goal. The team could use a little (more like a lot) of magic beyond the Magic Gus.

Make it a package. Him and Dinky for a couple of guys who can find their own zone. |

Specifically - Stan signs players too early, he can easily wait and sign the guys to a better deal but he refused. Stan waits too long to pull the trigger on a trade, he holds out for a better deal that never materializes and misses out on the best deal possible (usually two 2nd round picks). |

Yep. Lets trade a short guy and a slow guy that are scoring goals and putting up points at a great pace for tall muscular fast guys that could not find the back of the net with a flashlight and a road map.

I remember in the WJC one talking head saying if Soderlund does nothing but PK for the HAWKS they have a winner . |

No question that the Hawks need to vastly improve the PK. Personnel is part of the equation so that would be a plus if Soderlund or any other prospect for that matter is strong on the kill. Strategy is another part which Colliton and staff need to rethink and try some new schemes. |

I thought it was just assumed that Stan would re-sign Strome and DeBrincat to matching $8 million AAV deals then retain 50% before trading them for Lucic. |

At this point maybe they can go back to a simple box formation. Having one guy chase all over the top of the zone isn't working.
TBH, I am not sure what formation they use. Is scramble a formation? |

Box formation seems like the best way to simplify. What would you prefer: tight box or spread out but collapse as the puck/action gets closer to the net?
I like scramble formation if we're talking eggs. |
