No worries, Stanley is gunna sign William & Erik Karlsson, Tyler Myers, Duchene, Dzingel and Wayne Simmonds.

I don't think he will get that much. I am thinking 5.5. I am hoping he gives Winnipeg a home town discount. The franchise treated him and his family well when he was experiencing some personal crises. |

Maybe if Seabrook agrees to be traded to Ottawa so they can reach the cap floor next year |

I have a good feeling about Beaudin. I don't know if he will make it, but he just seems to be a well rounded dman. - breadbag
He already knows and does play defense better than any of our prospects. He is close to NHL ready.
Beaudin will learn more or better how to be effective despite his size disadvantage. But the talk on him is that he understands the nuances so he is in good position and makes correct reads and smart plays. This is an offensive dman who amasses a ton of assists. I would move Mitchell before Beaudin IF A PROSPECT GOES IN A TRADE. The reason is strictly due to his demonstration (not his ceiling alone) how to play defense.
In an ideal trade scenario i would be willing to trade a Mitchell plus something (maybe Gus) IF it allows us to move up a few slots to draft the forward "type" we need. This may be the best oppprtunity....this year...the abundance of forward and centers in the top eight.
I am just unsure whether the price to pay for the heralded forward is too steep. I am however willing to overpay. Some folks like to point out not all prospects make it. Well i see no reason why most of the much talked about dmen prospects do not play nhl eventually. It will be up to them to receive and apply teaching to go along with experience. So dealing one dman prospect is something we could afford.

It was reported Niklas Nordgren is out for the rest of the season. He missed a month or so mid-December to mid-January and he had some injuries earlier in his career too. Bummer, but it seems like he can't stay on the ice to get his career going. |

Good morning!
Question: What's the deal with Blake Hillman? I was expecting him to get another look after the games he played last year. As a defensive defenseman, I would think that's what the Hawks need. - MNHawk
AEL_FOX can sleak more toward authority on this since he watches many Rockford games
Hillman i do not truly think has regressed. Maybe not advanced a lot in his development but it is more a question of how good can he become. AEL_FOX said Gilbert has progressed ahead of him. And actually Hillman was rated way down the list and not spoken as a sure fire prospect by one of those scouting services....which is a bunch of bullpoop
The Blackhawks have seen plenty of him in rookies camp and Traverse City. Skates well for his size, willing to be mean, a defensive dman but has enough ability to rush the puck up ice which he did as a collegiate. He is a smart player. Hillman played a smart conservative game and had a goal in his brief Blackhawk trial last season.
Right now i suspect that Carlsson will earn a job and either Hillman or Gilbert could gain a foothold as a tough third pair. What side defense is needed and how far the team goes before eithet Koekkoeck and or Forsling make it in nhl.....that comes first. I am going with Koekkoeck makes it, Forsling needs a year AHL and Dahlstrom is depth. If Dahlstrom would use his body effectively and regularly as a big size dman then he could get a long look. So therefore Dahlstrom might block both Gilbert and Hillman. Not going to keep Carlssin back though |

He can get more on the open market I would think. He is going to want a raise is my guess. I guess he could sign for what he i making now but I kinda doubt it. |

Again. This isn't even about whether I like the player or not. He is going to be 30 the first of his contract. His age doesn't fit the plan, IMO. Hawks already have their vet D-men. Having 3 D-men in their 30's on a rebuilding team doesn't seem like the way to go. |

Just no to Simmonds. He is 30 and his style of play isn't going to last much longer for him. Good player but totally wrong for where the Hawks are at the moment.
Perlini isn't a 4th line guy. He is pretty bad defensively. Tanev would be a better fit there.
That defense is old. Real old.
EDIT: Paquette bleeds shots against. Hawks don't need more of those guys. - Elbows15

I know. Signing aging players isn't where the team is at is all I am saying.
Tanev would be okay for a bottom line role. |
