Well, I get to decide what offends me personally. I'm 63, my father was one of the most offensive persons that I know. That whole generation was bad about that. I played hockey, starting before high school. Played full contact til I was 41. Broke my keg and stopped. Was in the auto industry my whole life. Spent any time in a repair shop? Was a volunteer fire fighter for twenty years. Ever hung out In a fire house? The point is, I have been involved in all the banter, jokes and bad comments for years. Like you, I have gay friends, black friends, Jewish friends. Had an Indian friend and we all talked with accents around him. Got to the point where we had trouble NOT talking like that. So I'm good with screwing around with our friends. Here us the catch. We do that with people we know and love, good naturedly. My ex is Latin. Referred to me as her white cracker. But This in an anonymous hockey forum. No one knows each other. You don't know who is reading and you don't know how one will react when reading these comments here. It's a different situation.
BTW, are you aware that in PA, using the f word in public or giving the finger in public is disorderly conduct. Last I heard it was worth $425 with court costs. The judge doesn't care if you think it is OK.
But This is a hockey forum. Shouldn't contain questionable terms or language. Just my thought. But my thought are my own. This is twice in two weeks this debate has cropped up. Like I said in the earlier post. I rarely post here because of this crap. But rest assured, I read every word, every day. I can due that because I am now 100% disabled. All I can say is post what ever you want. You all do. Just know the flag button is on top of all the posts. I have only twice commented on this. However, I hit the flag button on EVERY POST that offends me. We have mods for a reason. If they agree, enjoy your ban, your welcome.

I understand your point. Yes, you get to be offended. No one can take away your thoughts. They are, uniquely yours. However, there will always be someone, somewhere who was not the target of what was said, and be offended. I think it is on the bystander to understand that fact, and move on, not create additional social unrest. We are divided because social engineers create victims, and you can have hero’s without victims. Politicians do the same. It is up to us to look past their bullish!t, and respect each other without “someone, somewhere” creating or deciding what is or isn’t offensive. As I mentioned, I personally, am not insensitive to your being upset over use of the term, or any others, but you have to respect he had no intent to be offensive to you. I’m genuinely sorry you’re disabled now at an age much too young for it, and that you are sensitive to certain terms, but again, it wasn’t directed at you, and I ask again....who gets to decide what is and isn’t offensive? Who gets labeled what, and when? The more people buy into the social engineering, and PC bullish!t, the more divided we become, and the identity politics, created victims, and coddled youth become dependent, the further our society erodes. Sometimes life sucks on its own, and sometimes we make poor decisions, but whatever the situation at hand, it’s how we think and react to it that defines us. Don’t let morons try to define you, and divide us. Try to be a little lighter, do what you think is right, support and respect one another, and risk the 425$ fine for telling some divisive, PC, social engineer, to go EFF himself!

The ice was rough. I don’t remember exactly what happened there, but it was a brutal call by McGuire. Favorite parts?

I enjoyed all of it. Especially all the behind the scenes stuff and the interaction of the players on the ice. Always wonder what goes on out there other than the visual. I got a kick out the Pens coach calling out the next shift and every player had a nickname but then it was Nick Bjugstad, your up next. I guess he didnt get a nickname yet.

My initial thoughts go to how much running around Wilson may potentially do this evening against a simmer-less flyers team. Also I will key on our young d and how they handle a physical Washington forward unit

I'm cool with that, not getting on the soap box again. I want to read about the Flyers, want to discuss hockey. I don't want to read this stuff. If questionable things are posted, you can't judge intent here. It always sounds like a personal attack on someone. It never improves the conversation.

I'm not sure if this forum has a full time ref now, or not. But for your general edification, from the Code of Conduct.

"6. Respect your fellow HockeyBuzzers
No name calling. And you’re not being clever if you say “any moron knows” or “only an idiot doesn’t understand.” You’re being disrespectful. Talk more about hockey and less about each other. Although playful banter is allowed, that does not mean anything goes, if the banter breaks any part of the code of conduct, it isn’t playful and it is not acceptable. When “Player X stinks" turns into "You stink" you've crossed the line. And yes, the Moderators decide where the line is.

No racial slurs or otherwise derogatory comments based on the target's assumed race, religion, gender, country, sexual orientation, or language. This goes not only for posters and bloggers but for players, management, officials, their families, and others in the public eye. This is a hockey forum for hockey discussion, take hate speech elsewhere.

Do not threaten or intimidate others—posters or bloggers. Just don't do it. If you threaten another member, expect a long, long ban.

It is not against the rules for someone to disagree with you. "

And yes, "retard" is generally out of favor in society these days. You might get a gentle warning if you are in second grade, but after that you can be expected to know it's not ok. Not because you are insulting your intended target, but because you are devaluing the lives of those among us who are intellectually challenged or related to someone who is.

I think anyone who can use a keyboard should be capable of putting together a complaint about someone's hockey ability without resorting to use of pejorative words.

Nord is not compatible with Roku. However, Nord claims that they are compatible with Firestick. I have tried various VPN locations, Onion over, Double VPN and Obfuscated. No luck.

I've had some luck using Nord with nhl.tv on my computer, but would really like to use my 55" 4k screen rather than my laptop.

My thoughts in response to that statement is that Wilson is going to do the same amount of running around without Simmonds that he would with Simmonds still on the Flyers.

Simmer's presence never stopped him from dangerous hits when he was with the Flyers.

What is the team's record under Gordon now? I've gotta say I have issue with them keeping him on. Obviously you still have to reach out to Q in the off-season but Gordon is getting wins and you can't argue with that.

Hate to keep this afloat but intellectually challenged is offensive. Seen care workers go batpoop crazy hearing that term.
Again a lot of words used to be more sensitive just become the same thing it was originally.
Most of us are adults and we can tell when someone is being a tool.

Actually never read that. I based my comments on common sense and human decency. Thanks for posting that. I'm sure a lot of posters have never read it as well. I held back on saying some of these things could be bordering on hate crimes. But I guess that it answers the question of who gets to decide what is offensive and wha isn't. .

Yep, the tools in my toolbox are angry and formed a PAC to get the attention they deserve, and the term banned. At some point every term will be offensive to someone, somewhere. That was the crux of my previous posts on the subject. That, and who gets to decide what is and isn’t offensive. Like most other subjects, the self anointed hero’s of the created victims, know what’s best......NOT!!
