I find this line of thinking a trap. He's their best. Yes because they need better. He will be their best when they re-sign him. Yes, because they choose not to improve his spot.

My main beef is his horribad health record. There's no argument when the guy sits out 25-35 games a season.

Signing edler just makes sense if he’ll take a home town discount + not screw us for expansion draft.

I love Edler, and defended him to the masses the past few years, but I would not go more than 1 year at a time. Happy to pay him top $, but not more than a year.

I wouldn’t even care about trading him for “assets”. If he decides he wants a multi year deal somewhere else, I am happy for him to do that.

I am not an Edler fan, but, the guy is and has been a good defenseman for this team...when he plays.
I am pretty sure he would be a top pairing player on about half the teams in the league.

Best thing about beating the leafs... it keeps them out of our thread !

Very few people in here know as many Leafs fans as I do. Over and over they brag about how many Torontonians are in every NHL building when they are on the road like it means their city is great. So every city is full of people from Toronto who don't want to live there. Most of the transplants I know left and think it was the best decision they ever made.
