In the first 5 minutes i knew they were going to lose...you could just see what not have Jake's creativity and the Snarl that Patty was bringing was missing...For all those people on the trade Jake train...i think you saw what that looks like without having him on one of our lines...You have to get someone just as creative and talented with the puck in return if you are trading him IMO. Yes, defensively he is a nightmare sometimes, but his size and what he can do with the puck can't really be replicated |

That game was a metaphor for the season. - Scoob
I know Scoob . That is the most frustrating thing about this team. That and the uneven play of the goal tenders. Just realized that you should know. What the (frank) is up with Elliot and his glove hand? I can think of 4 or 5 goals that have gone in of his glove. Is it equipment or is it just his reaction time now. |

I really hope Frost plus one other makes the team next year. Either Ratcliffe or Farabee would be nice, but I guess I would take NAK.
I also think Fletcher is going to go all-in in free agency. Im thinking like Suter/Parise. So maybe he goes after Karlsson and either Duchene or Panarin. I would prefer Duchene because he can play center and wing.
A friend and I did the math last night and if the cap goes up to 83-84 million like I heard, and the flyers move out Macdonald without taking a contract back and Gudas or Ghost then we should be fine cap wise. - youarewrong
I don't think Suter and Parise are leaving MIN. that is the reason they went there in the first place...they had better offers but that is where they wanted to be.
I agree on Panarin first, Duchene second...No thanks to Karlsson...he is on the wrong side of the age i would be looking for...and when Ghost gets his game back he is just as dangerous, much younger and a great team contract. BTW he played pretty well last night all things considered..got the puck on net quite a few times and pushed the flow once everyone was skating. |

From the previous blog, I just need to say something about this. First off I am very, very conservative and I hate how PC is being used to divide this country so we aren't too far off on our opinions.
And yes words have multiple meanings. The N word, the R word, the word that means a bundle of sticks... All have multiple meanings. Thankfully we have multiple words that mean the same thing. So if you mean stupid, you can say stupid or another similar word.
In this changing PC climate there is no need to say these really offensive words. And yes, sometimes there is no telling if a word or phrase is offensive. MOST people that are offended will tell you politely the word is offensive and not get triggered by a simple mistake (Internet warriors aside). The people that do get offended by using a pronoun when you had no idea are just as bad as people that use slurs on purpose. Its rude and divisive.
So I live by a simple rule. Once someone tells me something is offensive I will stop saying it. I used to say "Gay" and bundle of sticks and Retard all the time when I was young. Then I had a gay friend and let it slip a few times. She didn't care or say anything but I was embarrassed. Then I got a job working with severe needs students.... General rule, if a word has a derogatory meaning and is associated with with a gender, race, culture, etc. stop using that word. These are things that people can't change, but you can change your word choice without changing the meaning of what your saying.
example: That movie was so retarded. Offensive.
Example 2: That movie was so stupid. That movie was so dumb. That movie was so pedestrian. Not offensive.
It's all a matter of training yourself not to say these words. Yes, freedom of speech, I get it. But there is also this thing called the golden rule. - youarewrong
Dude, twice you have said this better than I did.
It's just a matter of common sense, human decency and being respectful of other people. Doesn't take away from being able to (frank) around with your friends. |

I don't think they will get Panarin. Duchene at 7 x $9m AAV might be worth it to bolster the top 6 at C/LW. |

Beats me - I don't recall that being a weak spot of his so maybe his long layoff has affected his reaction timing. |

Caps looking good yes. Jensen is a solid pickup. Not sure what Detroit was thinking there. They have such overpaid garbage on d caps took advantage of it to their credit. Repeat is definitely a possibility |

I brought this up the other. We have an ass load of players picked from the U.S. development program. They can't sign an ELC while keeping college eligibility. I get really nervous about guys like Allison playing his four years and just picking his team like Vessey and Caggolia not sure on spelling.
Off the top of my head, Farabee, Allison, O'Brien and Cates. Would hate to miss them. There are also good D in college. |

Yea. Gotta think we’re in danger of losing some of these players. Fletcher probably recognizes the glut of futures and will look to make something happen |

Listen, please don’t reply or quote this comment. Discussion of wording used by posters keeps coming up, and yesterday a referee kindly posted a portion of the hockeybuzz code of conduct. Whether you agree, disagree, like them or don’t like them, everything has rules.
Sometimes we sign up for something without really reading the rules. Me included. After reading them, I am sure I can do better.

Don't think he meant going after those two. Just a couple of players, Panarin or Duchene, maybe both on a max deal. |

I'd have to look at it more closely but I think affording two major free agent adds is going to be very tough. I hope he does not go after Karlsson.

Do you really think that any of those players will help the Flyers.
Karlsson is the best of all and Duchene is just useless longterm.
As rental he might be OK.Also I doubt that Panarin will sign for a team what is not a contender. He will go to the Bruins is my guess

Bill,
Any thoughts on Wyatte Wylie. He seems to be hovering around top 10 stats in the WHL for a D man. Do you think he has promise moving forward. What I have read he has a high hockey IQ and it appears his numbers have been improving year to year. Just looking to see what we have in the way for D prospects since we mostly talk here about the forwards.
Thanks |

Yes. Panarin flat out makes this team better...zero question in my mind on that. Duchene is an upgrade, but if you bring him in I think you are moving something out to get that top 4 Dman they probably need. |

It's supposed to be a very strong free agent time. That being said there are a lot if guys I'd NOT want to over pay for. Panarin, Duchene May be Hayes but not over paying for him. No EK! Also may see guys who figured on huge pay days hanging in the wind. Maybe Simmer and Hayes a bit. Kind of like the glut at the trade dead line. We didn't get as much for Simmer as all if us had hoped. It's going to be an interesting off season. |

It sometimes looks like he can't catch with it or it won't close on the puck. But I agree that it's probably reaction time off or may be just picking the puck up a bit late. |
