It's supposed to be a very strong free agent time. That being said there are a lot if guys I'd NOT want to over pay for. Panarin, Duchene May be Hayes but not over paying for him. No EK! Also may see guys who figured on huge pay days hanging in the wind. Maybe Simmer and Hayes a bit. Kind of like the glut at the trade dead line. We didn't get as much for Simmer as all if us had hoped. It's going to be an interesting off season. - jaws1955
Just adding. I would have interest in Zucerello. He would be an interesting addition and perhaps with less term and cap hit. |

Just thinking of possibilities of an off season with out a single free agent pickup. Can move guys around as you see fit.

Farabee Laughton Hartman

Ratcliff and Strome in the AHL
Strome is interesting. When he gets to LHV can the coaches help his skating? |

Yes. Panarin flat out makes this team better...zero question in my mind on that. Duchene is an upgrade, but if you bring him in I think you are moving something out to get that top 4 Dman they probably need. - JW98FlyerFan
Duchene is not better then Couts at this point so complete waste of money.
Panarin is great but I doubt he wants to be a Flyer
But I do agree with you that Nr.1 D-man should be their priority for next season
Healthy goaltending and Nr.1D-man for the first 30 games and season looks different |

Last night's game was a microcosm of this season--Slow start with a furious finish, but still coming up short. Once the Flyers are mathematically out of the playoffs, they should play Meyers and Morin as much as possible to gain NHL experience, along with Hart, if healthy? Hopefully Amac is gone this summer?
I'm not really sure that Simmonds would come back to Philly and sign a team friendly contract? Will/should the Flyers sign Hartman? He's an ex 1st round pick that was on a one year contract with the Preds for $875,000, so it shouldn't break the bank to re-sign him. |

instead of signing an overpriced free agent why not start to use the asset they have in terms of picks/prospects and try to trade for some help.
they cant sign or use all the picks they have imo, its the perfect time to use them to get immediate help. |

You think Farabee signs by next season? I kind of think they re-sign Raffl. We'll see I guess. |

OK TK called Malkin a Nerd, I am a nerd. I find it offensive. So no one should be able to use the word Nerd in a derogatory way right? - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I honest to god don’t think anything Konecny said anything offensive in that Mic’d up but I also don’t think he’s very clever. He’s just a chatter box. Talks a lot. |

I would have high interest in Panarin, which I agree with the previous poster that it's not likely to happen and Hayes for the right price. I do however think the Flyers are going to go after a defenseman.

A top team needs 3 scoring lines so Duchene not being better than Couturier is not a factor. I believe they want to move Giroux back to wing full time. |

From the previous blog, I just need to say something about this. First off I am very, very conservative and I hate how PC is being used to divide this country so we aren't too far off on our opinions.
And yes words have multiple meanings. The N word, the R word, the word that means a bundle of sticks... All have multiple meanings. Thankfully we have multiple words that mean the same thing. So if you mean stupid, you can say stupid or another similar word.
In this changing PC climate there is no need to say these really offensive words. And yes, sometimes there is no telling if a word or phrase is offensive. MOST people that are offended will tell you politely the word is offensive and not get triggered by a simple mistake (Internet warriors aside). The people that do get offended by using a pronoun when you had no idea are just as bad as people that use slurs on purpose. Its rude and divisive.
So I live by a simple rule. Once someone tells me something is offensive I will stop saying it. I used to say "Gay" and bundle of sticks and Retard all the time when I was young. Then I had a gay friend and let it slip a few times. She didn't care or say anything but I was embarrassed. Then I got a job working with severe needs students.... General rule, if a word has a derogatory meaning and is associated with with a gender, race, culture, etc. stop using that word. These are things that people can't change, but you can change your word choice without changing the meaning of what your saying.
example: That movie was so retarded. Offensive.
Example 2: That movie was so stupid. That movie was so dumb. That movie was so pedestrian. Not offensive.
It's all a matter of training yourself not to say these words. Yes, freedom of speech, I get it. But there is also this thing called the golden rule. - youarewrong
I have to admit... you're growing on me. |

I was just trying to make a point. People are too over sensitive to words. Anything can be offensive if you let it. I grew up with the mentality "sticks and stones break your bones but words will never hurt me" and this is true. Words only have meaning when you give it to them. Why is say sh*t worse than poop. What makes it a swear word? We make it a swear word. I say the same thing about the C word. You call a guy a Richard, no one bats an eye, call a woman a C word and people lose their minds. Think about it. A woman gets more upset being called a C word than a b*tch. They would rather be called a female dog than a vagina. Where is the sense in that? |

Hayes is interesting too because he can play RW. I’m beginning to lean to him but Winnipeg has such a need for him also. He can slide over to RW if and when frost is ready to take a top 9 C role. Karlsson makes no sense - Just5
I believe Fletcher believes he needs to get a veteran top 2 defenseman. Thats why I have him on there. Honestly I think Karlsson already has a deal in place in San Jose, they just can't announce it until after the playoffs because of Cap reasons. |

I don't see the point in keeping these arguments going over multiple blogs. I see both sides I guess. But basically, if someone says they're offended by using certain words on the board, don't use them. I don't think that's completely unreasonable. |

I'm not really all that interested in trading Gostisbehere but I guess ultimately that would depend on who they acquire.

There are no cap reasons that would prevent them from announcing a new deal for next season now.

Words mean different things to different people.
Your grandma might choke on her dentures if you'd said things that would pass a PG-13 rating in front of her. Does that make her an awful SJW PC snowflake? Or does that just mean she comes from a different time and different experience?

Just looking around other teams rosters there aren’t many top 4 dmen I would think would be available. They are so hard to find. I don’t see a pressing need for it either and I don’t want to trade ghost when his value is low.
I’ll wait and see how this year plays out Sanheim does not appear to be in over his head playing alongside provorov |

A center that can play top six and a minute eating top 4 vet D that can PK are my wish list for this off season. I think trading asserts would be better then UFA overpayment, unless they could get a Panarin here and for him I’d open the check book.
I’m pretty happy with Couts and Patrick but think they need another C that is a ~2C talent in addition. G long term should be on LW and with him on the ice with either Couts or NP, and Voracek on the other line, they have 2 good lines. The 3rd line needs a playmaking C that isn’t in the system yet.
Trade some prospects or package with mid level pick for the right guy. |

Well we know you don't like Raffl. But since yesterday I m pretty certain that he will be re-signed at least to a one year deal ( maybe two years with 1.2 million per year )

In my opinion the sub par play we're seeing with Provorov is a by product of really putting to much on him in conjunction with the teams overall defensive play this season, the goaltending issues, etc. I believe the pressure has gotten to him somewhat. I also believe not having a player like Filppula who took a lot of the defensive burdens is also contributed. The Flyers just aren't strong enough yet to push play enough. A veteran quality defenseman can help with that and allow the younger defenseman to play in better situations where they can use their physical abilities to attack offensively and move play.

Caps picked up the guy from Detroit and he’s going to play top 4 minutes. But you’re right it’s rare they move at all.
A mid six center is a bigger need. I do think they get a vet D, but it won’t be a franchise/top 1-2 guy. A number 3-4 that is reliable on the PK would be a good signing.
