Yep. And all with Edler/Tanev/Sutter in the lineup. - LordHumungous
Edler and Tanev don't play enough games to make them worth while to the team. You pretty much need 8 NHL calibre defence and then some 7/8 guys that are able to go back and forth between the minors.
1) If that was the only place JB has found quality, that might be relevant.
2) Not very many GM's had EP top5 from what most journalists have reported
3) Boeser
For some reason it's JB when it's poopty decisions and Brackett when it's smart ones #narrative - neem55
I've been pretty consistent with my stance that GM's get all the blame and praise.
I also agree and have consistently said JB has done a great job finding players later in the draft, but the narrative, has been he's saved the franchise through unearthing Pettersson and Brock. Both look like great picks but he also looks like he whiffed in 2 as well. Personally i think McCann should count as a great pick as well.
My point remains, if you get that many chances most team hit on a few and miss on a few.

I agree with both bolded words, although the 101pt states otherwise regarding one of worst teams in the past 5 years, so sorry, I'll disagree with your narrative or context.
We all know this team sucks and is struggling on the talent level, and the one year in-between the 4 other bottom 5 years was a unexpected but it did happen and if iirc Boeser came out of the draft after that season. - Makita
Add it all up even with that 101 pt season and i would guess we are still firmly entrenched in the bottom.

I still think Juolevi turns out to be a solid top 4 guy, something like a Vlassic type. Just needs to get past these injuries and put a full season under his belt.
Jake... well, next year is a big year for him. Either he really shows he's getting it, or I think he gets moved at the TDL.

The Senators coaching search won’t get underway until after the season. The Senators could have 30-40 names on their initial list but will get that down by the end of the season. When they hired Guy Boucher they interviewed nine ‘veteran’ coaches. This time around they will likely be looking at younger guys – “AHL head coaches and NHL assistant coaches with some head coaching experience.”

That’s life sometimes Minivan. I was the only person interviewed for my position. My org discussed suitable candidates and decided I was their preferred target. After one meeting they made an offer. Sometimes that’s how it works. Helps that they have been grooming Green in the minors for years

Yes, but to be fair TG was the Utica coach, so he basically had a four year job application where they just hired from within.
Also, while looking that up, I came across this sweet pic of him and his mullet:

Because it looks great to go out interviewing a bunch of coaches of varying quality while the guy you've let grow in the organization is offering you a take it or leave it deal

I actually think OJ is more the opposite of Vlasic than like him lol. Vlasic has been a better version of Tanev, a shutdown dman that can move the puck, but isn't a PP QB. He's played 22-23 mins a night on some strong Sharks teams.
OJ has struggled defensively in the OHL/AHL, but he's been really good on the PP and decent offensively at 5v5. We should hope for him to become an offensive dman that can help the PP, but needs to be sheltered at 5v5 with more o-zone starts and softer matchups.
I can't see him developing into a 22-23 mins a night dman on a playoff team, but I'd love to be wrong.

Show me rebuild without a couple solid whiffs. Cam Barker comes to mind. There were a fair few in Pitt. people tank, it's not bulletproof but you get the guys you can build around. 2/4 stud picks is pretty great. None of them are busts yet. 3/4 in the lineup and JV isa solid contributer even if he's not a core piece. I only wish it did't start as a re-tool where he traded some picks away that would have probably been in the lineup by now. But whatever, overall perspective is he's built a very strong core and surrounded it with vets while they grow. it's not a light switch and if people can't see improvement than they have been off their meds too long IMO

Agree, I just meant in his depth/ceiling for the team. A solid second pairing guy. Would probably be great beside a Tanev (or Vlasic) type.

I've disliked parts of Green's coaching as others have. Personally, i'm not calling for his head right now though. He's showing signs of improvement and the only way he is going to improve, is to coach. I hope he continues to learn from his mistakes and grows with the rest of the team. When the time comes and the team stalls and there might be more to gain from another coach. I'm all for it. As for right now, i'm fine with the progression that has been made.
My most positive takeaway from Thursday's game was that Edmonton's win really doesn't help them get any closer to the playoffs, either. Dallas and Minnesota are really pouring it on down the stretch.

Ah, my bad. I still think that it's unlikely that he reaches that level. I'd say a tier below that is a more realistic upside for him.

Did he even interview him? I bet they just said “Travis, the job is yours if you want it”.

PPG when he was injured indicates he's an offensive defenceman
