Maybe, instead of trampling on poor Derrick's feelings, you could say:

"Derrick Pouliot, when compared to other NHL players, is an abjectly pathetic excuse for a hockey player, whose mind-numbingly stupid play is an insult to the league and all life on Earth."

Disclaimer: This is in no way a reflection on Derrick Pouliot as a human being, or cisgendered non binary being.

Thanks Carol .

I am not surprised about Gagner's success in Edmonton or Gudbrandsons success or Bonino when he left.

I was listening shortly to SN650 this morning and they mentioned exactly that and the style Canucks play. It was a discussion with a Winnipeg journalist who writes for the Athletic and he touched about Canucks difficult style they play compared to other teams. It may also have to do a little with injuries also ? I am speculating on the latter.

From previous blog . Yes Canucks will need more than 6 Dmen that is why I think Canucks should look at something like this if they bring back Edler

Let’s
Just all agree that Pouliot needs to be fired into the sun and focus on what’s important. The draft and the picnic

- CanuckDon

ummm Donny... Pouliot is just lacking confidence. How dare you say that we should shoot an able-bodied NHL hockey player into a burning ball of gas.

there isn't a poster in here who could keep up with a junior B hockey player, and I would put money on that.

Again, Saying Derick Pouliot sucks, and then having someone rush to his defense to say "well he could still run circles around you" is a given. Lets not get too caught up in Pouliots feelings regarding what we say about him at the NHL level, and lets not need to re-inforce the clarity, that opinions about players at the NHL level, are in reference to them in the league that they play in, and not in the sport in general lol...

- Codes1087

Woops, should have refreshed this sooner. Definitely not defending him, and clearly get the context of saying he sucks per the NHL yadda yadda... I just always find it funny that we – as normal shlubs sitting behind keyboards – rag on guys for not keeping up with the 1% of the 1% of professional athletes.

Joe vs Pro was always a funny show to watch for that

As Carol very aptly mention, Gagner started out great but is down to 10 minutes and is not looking like he will do much for the oilers. Man I hope we land a UFA d-man. I would honestly would be shocked if we didn't. Edler will be back plus one new face is my prediction.

what exactly is the Canucks style of play though? I don't think they really have an identity lol. It seems like a random mix of young players and spare parts/mentors.

I guess they're trying to be a speed, offensive team but then why have Beagle and Sutter entering 2 different lines? That seems more like what a defensive/trap team would want.

Basically what I was getting at:

I think the people who go straight to the overt-sensitivity jokes are the most sensitive. How ironic

I always find this funny. In the context of playing at the NHL level? Yes, he's not very good. If he played a pickup game with anyone here, he would be head and shoulders above us all

Always reminds me of the times people play pickup hockey with some guy who scraped it as a fourth liner, and he's out there dangling and sniping. Dale freakin' Weisse.

I did go up against a world class athlete once . It was a fast ball pitcher Terry Bell who won the worlds championship a few times. It was an after work gathering that if you could hit a home run off him they would give you 100 dollars. I tried it with construction boots on and jeans. I came short a few times but it turned down to a 10 pitch competition between me and him. He could not get a strike past me . I told him give me your best shot , he said he already tried. I did not hit a home run though.

Pouliot definitely doesn't have the drive Stecher does.

One dude was undersized, undrafted and worked his way into getting a NHL contract and becoming a decent NHL dman.

The other was a lottery pick that was surpassed by players drafted later then him on the organizational depth chart, didn't come to camps in great shape and after an OK first season with his new team, he's taken a step back and might be out of the NHL as soon as next year.

Stecher also was blessed with better hockey sense, Pouliot looks lost defensively way too often, even when he's trying hard.

I like the odd feelings fight. Unless of course my opponent is Northy. There aren’t enough lattes in the Western Hemisphere to defend against that onslaught

I am not an expert but I see them as a dump and chase . I think their biggest problem is not going to the net. They don't have the type of players in front causing a disturbance and I also see them losing a lot of board battles where the other team gets control quickly.

I think their identity is SOFT

I don't think you can bank on Juolevi to be NHL ready to start the year. I would hang on to Hutton and trade him for assets if Juolevi lights it up in the AHL to start the year. He should still have value as he is not old and has proven he can play lots of minutes.

I understand the sentiment of not wanting to bring back the same busted D corps but I think adding a top 4 RHD is more important than cutting a LHD loose
