Make that 9 untouchables on the current roster:
Giroux, Patrick, Lindblom, Konecny, Coots, Myers, Sanheim, Hartman, Hart |

Some UFA will be re-signed, rights to others traded then re-signed with a new team. The trade market can shift depending on team’s performance down the stretch and in the playoffs.

Ghost, for me has a price. First, losing him can’t create a hole, so a replacement for his key roles is needed. Secondly, we get a great deal. - NC Flyers Fan
That doesn't change that there is ONE UFA defenseman potentially available with the offensive ability that rivals or is better than Gostisehere and that's Karlsson.
So ballpark, to trade for a defenseman that doesn't create a hole and has the ability that Gostisbehere has but is better defensively, what is that going to cost in a trade? Which players off the current team are you also willing to give up? Patrick? Konecny? Sanheim? Myers?

I love having a lot of young D.
Meyers looks like a gem but really too small a sample to know for certain what he becomes.
Sanheim is already good and hopefully still improving on the D side.
Morin is a question mark.
Hagg seems like a third pair guy who could have a very long NHL career in the right role.
Ghost hopefully rebounds to where he was before his injury and surgery. Provy is not going anywhere.
I think it’s too soon trade any of the young guys unless they get blown away by the return.
Like a Taylor Hall equivalent return that the Devils got. - Marc D
Good analogy on the D.
The Taylor Hall was just a horrible trade all around. Larsson is a serviceable #3-4 I watch him in Edmonton, a little slow with not a lot of offence to his game, but is physical at least. Would you trade Provorov for Hall, just curious, not sure Ghost would get it done by himself, thinking if it were to happen today? |

Personally, I haven’t ruled out Karlsson.
As far as making a trade that doesn’t create a hole, we would either be talking a blockbuster multiple player trade. Or if it’s a rebuilding team, using prospects and draft picks. |

Well I said at the beginning,
Provey, Sanhiem
Ghost, Meyers
Haag, Gudas, Morin last three in any rotation.
AMac to LHV dknt need the cap space and he is better than a Folin. |

Don't want any part of a 77 mil dollar Karlsson. He has been dinged a lot recently. He is out "indefinitely " now. |

Jake special there. Turn the puck over....hurry to the bench behind the counter rush to avoid the minus |

100% correct, Ghosts trade value couldnt be lower and I expect a much better season next year. He’s a guy who needs to play with confidence and it will come back. Would be a huge mistake to trade him while his value is so low, unless he could land us someone like marner. Ppl forget pretty quick how the value of a player like ghost playing well should bring in a Tayler Hall type return. |
