Interesting to me that fans chid another for the atrocious on-ice performance by the team.
Who gives a crap if a fan see the brightside of the team losing. The chiding of another fan is simply misplaced frustration with the play of the team.
You are not wrong to be frustrated with their disappointing play this season...but you yourself said you were on the tank train previously and defended Botts for driving the tank last season to improve the odds for Dahlin.
So really, what is the difference?
I root for them to win every game, I also see the benefit of selecting a better player by finishing say 24th than 28th.
But to each there own I guess - IonSabres
Yes
And I'm pro high draft pick this year.
But the same thoughts over and over again......
Last year we were trying to get possibly the best defenseman ever drafted, or eichel's Russian line mate or tkachuk.
This year the prospects are similar after the top 2. According to pegulaville. [I believe]
And I understand the weighted %.
He is also 23 and can wait for ever .
I respect his opinion and yours as well

Scouts have different opinions on the players ranked 3-9. It’s entirely possible the Sabres can draft a guy in the 8-10 range that they may have selected in the 3-5 range. It’s also possible they draft a guy ranked exactly where they drafted him. It’s up to what teams prefer in their protypical Centreman. |

We are all frustrated with their play, which has been far below even mild expectations for three months now.
As you know, a higher pick mean they would get to select which of the similar players to pick...rather than settling for what is left
So perhaps Botts selects the talent who also plays with an edge over the perimeter soft player...to me that is a huge advantage. Like they could have had Tkachuk rather than Nylander...both players who had high skill sets, but who play a different game.
It ain't me playing like crap to lose, I can't impact their fate no matter how close to the TV I sit or how loud I yell and scream to Shoot...lol!
Personally, I would love to have say pick 6 rather than 11 or 13 is all.

I saw the same thing with Sam, shocked the poop out of me..., not only did he go in there but he actually handled himself okay.
Casey is a young man, he really has no business being in the nhl this year ... he needs to hit the weights hard this off season. - gordong
Work smart, not hard, bro.
Sam doesn't need to get his nose in the corners, laying huge hits, because he gets the puck and gets rid of it before the other guy can get to him; he doesn't shy away from contact, he rarely initiates it though, and for some reason people see that as "soft". |

What?
Toughness is the easiest/ cheapest thing to address.
IMMEDIATELY
You want to wait until we have a legitimate roster?
Maybe the fact that were super soft keeps getting us top 10 picks? Is that your angle?
What if eichel was seriously hurt? Or dahlin?
We'll just keep losing and find those guys in the next draft? By tanking?
This is pretty close to being your worst post recently.
Aside for your excitement over the broncos getting Flacco - Boss34
What if we had a Tom Wilson and all he did was put a target on our best players backs through his moronical shenanigans trying to internally decapitate other team's players. We can play the "what if" game all day long.
I don't think there's a player in the league who would've dissuaded Zadorov from that hit yesterday.
I've only seen the GIF, but it looked more awkward than dirty. It was a skosh high, but what Eichel did to Soderberg was super dirty. He can't do that. He'll be lucky to get off with only a game or 2. That was pre-meditated and I'd throw the book at him. I don't give a poop who he is, that poop is never going to stop if there's no or very light punishment.

Flacco needs to be an average QB. Case Keenum was the worse NFL starter in the league last year that wasn’t a rookie. I have no problem tanking year after year. Seemed to work for Toronto, Winnipeg and Calgary. We can add toughness in the offseason. - Pegullaville
Winnipeg's best players are old, traded for, and/or not tank picks. Toronto and Calgary have accomplished nothing yet. They had 78 points when they got Laine, also not tanking they were 6/7 that year and were fortunate enough to win a lottery selection.
I don't give a poop about toughness. They have enough guys willing to throw hits and drop the gloves. They don't need to add a tough guy for the sake of it. |

I'm all for jbotts getting to pick his guy.
So far aside from mitts and dahlin , looks like he has a clue. I like Samuelson and pekar.
I'm trying to convince myself this is part of the plan. Hire a soft coach with no experience, let him pick his assistants. Play a wide open style with 2 below average goalies and no defensive defenseman.
Clearly they went trying to "win now" when they added no one when we were winning
Montour is a great move, but geared to the future with his 1 year until rfa

I don’t think they hired Housley cause they knew he was going to flame out. But to say he tried his best to win now was false. He traded ROR and Kane for futures, he had to have known they might go in the toilet again this year. Skinner was the only move he made to give any glimmer of hope that he was trying to win any sort of hockey games this year and obviously not even him and his 36 goals got us anywhere. |

Eichel gets 2 games!! Are you franking kidding me? Gudas played Paul franking Bunyan with his stick and got the same 2 games and has been suspended several times in the past.
Eichels hit was maybe 1 game and that is a big maybe. |

Jack got hit dirty. Jack has had long, losing seasons and long, losing seasons. I can understand the kind of frustration that would lead to that hit.
But it was dirty and deserves a suspension.

Not sure what point your making either?
Bogo would have killed him.
Regular beat down boy as scandella didn't look worried or scared to go over a headlock slam zadarov.
Of all people, sam earned my respect.
He wasnt affraid and if he was, he didn't give a sh!t ,because it was his friend and teammate who got cheap shotted right in front of him.

You told me bogo was tough and these things wouldnt happen every time I brought up our lack of toughness
Then something about sam being "tough" because he stands near the net.
When sam actually showed real toughness yesterday in helping eichel. By being pissed and caring about his teammate.
No one on the caps has been targeted because of Tom Wilson. Just the opposite.
So..... 0 for 3 bandit |

I agree with Gordong.
Avs players head hit the shoulder blade area of Jack's back.
Looked to me Jack was rising up in anticipation of the forthcoming contact, and to help brace him from going into the boards.
If that is a dirty hit, then they need to take all hitting out of the game.
It is a complete BS call...further exasperated by a 2 game suspension.
He has hit players from behind face first into boards with no call whatsoever.
This league continues to suffer from the absolute worst officiating . |

There’s what? 15 games left and it’s the first time it has happened.
We haven’t been losing because we get physically intimidated. We lose because we only have one line that scores regularly; the defense as a unit can’t control play in our own end; and as soon as things start to wobble our resolve collapses.
You’re focusing on the wrong stuff, Boss.

Soderbergs face hit Jacks shoulder????
That’s just dumb. Jack hit Soderberg.
With his shoulder. In the face.
That is a head shot. And it’s dirty. |
