I wish the Pens had an alternate play to the drop pass entry.
- Thorny87

I would love to never see them do that again!!!

I like Simon but I’ll agree he hasn’t been up to speed with that line.

Nice goal!!!

He's a decent swiss army knife player, but he's not a 1st liner IMO. I can't stand him up there. I can't wait 'til Rust comes back because Sid seemingly doesn't want to play with Hornie.

Hornqvist is doing well on the third line anyways. Leave him there.

Its effective, but its predictability is leading to diminishing returns, I think.
- Victoro311

Agreed. Every team does it to an extent. I just think they’re so blatant with it no one bites. Evyone just hangs back waiting then we have 0 speed at the line.

WTF Murray!!!!

Murray earned the criticism this year...he can also earn accolades when he plays well.

90% of the league uses that drop pass as their PP zone entries. What I’ve noticed is that the higher percentage of controlled entries happen when the drop pass happens closer to the red line because the initial luck carrier helps push the D back to the blue line as far as possible but when the initial puck carrier drops it back around their own blue line that’s when chaos ensues. Ryan Stimson did a study in the same exact zone entries via Risto and Dahlin in buffalo and it was the same, higher success rates near the red line.

Agreed, but there's an extreme view on him that's just ridiculous.

My thing is that the criticism continued after the point that it wasn't warranted anymore. Murray sucked for a good chunk of the season, but he's been back to being straight up good over the last few weeks and he's still getting micro-scrutinized for every goal.

Well that happens when he helped dig this team a hole that still may yet cost them a playoff spot. Finding his game and back stopping the pens back to the post season will earn him praise.

Edit that game he melted down against philly wasnt long ago.

.

Makes sense. Our puck carrier is only going half speed most of the time too. It’s just not enough to push anyone back.
