The team came out flat (again). Has occurred far too often this season. Needs to be addressed.
Paterson did tweet which I thought was correct. That was the first time TG has pulled his goalie this season. Van did respond after that. Game was still out of hand by then and VGK probably packed it in a bit. I'll call that a sign of growth for TG. - manvanfan

Be good to see how he does over an 82 game schedule next season. Another building block. |

Despite them being a second year team, Vegas, they’re a big, fast, veteran team with outstanding goaltending, it was never close.
Canucks were never afforded the same opportunities to acquire draft picks or veteran talent that Vegas has. Not a good measuring stick game. |

13-0, 91 points. I think 90 will be the number to get in in the West. |

Not sure, never really took to him so I haven’t followed his progression much. Another Baertschi type player. |

Think if he goes to Utica he would play. He’s not 19 coming out of junior hockey. |

He's not soft like Baertschi.

Can't find a better clip but Lockwood went into the corner and just ran over the defender to get the puck. |

Put me on the Fire Benning bus. Not because I expected the team to be bottom 5 and they are (almost), but because he thinks they are a Jay Beagle away from competing for a playoff spot and well, they aren’t.
Good on him for moving Gagner and Goody, recognizing two mistakes, but there’s plenty more where that came from.
Green I give an actual NHL roster to before I criticize him for being a failure. - 1970vintage
I don't know for sure but I think Beagle was brought in to play against other teams top lines and keep the puck out of his net. Playing along side of Loui Eriksson does not help that cause.
I think with more effective line mates like when he played with Roussel made a big difference. Unfortunately they need AR to play top line minutes because the talent level sucks

This year one of the top 4 teams will have a 4th line guy play a "huge roll", and he will get paid because of it. Same will happen next year, and the year after that. I have nothing against Beagle, he's a decent player. He's not what the team needed this year, and probably not next year either. The puck is still going in the net, and his good work ethic and locker room leadership isn't convincing anyone to be prepared for the drop of the puck. |

Its also a narrative, I get why people want to move on from Eddie. I'm one his biggest boosters here and I'll only be happy if he returns on a 1 year deal.
That said, this is not the year to be complaining about his play, where does he rank among D points per game? |

Eriksson is a lot of things, overpaid, slow, ineffective offensively but hes one of the teams better defensive forwards. If anything that should be helping Beagle shut down other teams, which he hasnt been doing.
Its pretty telling that despite sutter's injury beagles ice time has decreased. |

Is this strategy of using Beagle or Sutter to shutdown other teams top lines kind of useless? The point would be to keep the puck out of your own net and that's all they would do. Isn't the point of hockey to outscore your opponents. If you spend the entire game trying to not have the other team score, you would think that the other team would have the puck more often.
I can't think of another team that actually deploys their 4th line to try and shut down the other team all game long. A few 3rd lines but not many.
It was a long time ago but when Beagle and Sutter were injured and Horvat and Pettersson were forced to play against other teams top lines and started in their own zone. I think the team was better. |
