The leafs missed playoffs 10 out of 11 years. That's clearly a 4 year rebuild that made it out the first round 14 years ago. With no cups yet.

Chicago has 3 cups. They missed the playoffs 9 out of 10 years.

Vancouver is 5 of 6 years going to miss the playoffs.

How is Van different than all of those others teams?

Umm no, there is no designated process with rebuilding, Vancouver is pursuing their own path which will be proven to be unique and successful, come on, this is just one game like this.

The Leafs tried to take shortcuts, 2 1sts and a 2nd ring a bell?

The Blackhawks were being run by Bill Wirtz, nicknamed dollar bill. Horrible team. They'd also just finished a streak prior to that of not missing the playoffs in consecutive seasons for nearly 30 years.

There's no magic bullet for a rebuild, but if you can't see the problems as they're unfolding you aren't looking hard enough.

People have been too extreme on both sides. We were not as good as we appeared to be prior to the all star break and we are not as bad as we look now

What problems? That the team is inexperienced and lacking in talent because they haven't had enough time to draft and develop?

I said the team has holes still. Those holes will be filled over the years through drafting, signing and trading.
