I still think whoever ends w the most points and doesn't make playoffs should get the 1st pick. Everything else can fall in line from worst to highest, but first overall goes to the best non-playoff team. Give people incentive to ice a legitimate Hockey team every season.

Yeah, but if you have a legit awful team, you kind of get penalized for that. I agree what you are saying in theory, but it would hurt teams that aren't trying to tank and just suck.

It was a joke. I'm pretty sure we have the 2nd worst AHL team.

Yeah but Devils and Kings AHL teams are just as bad.

Devils are picking before us no matter what. Pretty sure the Kings will too. Probably the best they could hope for is 5th

I don't know who the affiliates are for the other teams though. Might move them up

One team seems to have a big jump every lottery, Canes were 8th to 2nd? And didn’t Devils or Flyers jump pretty high?

The odds aren’t impossible to get lucky like that, maybe this is the year. Or maybe they fix it so the biggest market in sports can get a franchise player for once

I’ve seen it proposed before, and I like the idea of most points earned after being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Gives the worst teams the most opportunities to earn points and keeps the integrity of playing to win.

giving that team, who is closest to the playoffs but doesnt make it, higher odds would be a good start i think.

Keep forgetting they gave it to CO. Is the Jackets 1st for this year unprotected?

Well, yeah that is why I edited it. 4-15 the Sens get the pick. But how the lotto is done, you can only get into the top 3 via the lotto.

just a side though, we need Winnipeg to lose as much as possible and not make the conference final

that pick would look much nicer at around 22 than it would at 28

Colorado can pick 1 and 2. It's not likely. But possible. (frank)ing Ottawa.
