You're drunk, Gardiner isn't a top pair and neither is Hughes.
Gardiner is worse then either edler or tanev at playing defense.

Brackett didn’t run the drafts back then, he was just one of many regional scouts so it’s a stretch to pin every American system kid on him from those drafts.

I do give Benning credit for re-organization of the scouting structure of the team, they couldn’t keep doing the same thing with their track records

He reorganized the development structure too, seems like those two are his priority. A more rounded GM would make saavy trades too but overall i oike that he focused on those two and they both appear to be good. I think one of the reasons Leaves made out so well is they were able to spend big on team of team builders. Aquaman went cheap, so only really got one of those types. Needed a lamarello(experienced GM) to balance out JB’s learning curve. Just my opinion, i would add to the front office not take JB out. Put Lombardi in.

Seems premature to give him credit for development, most of his “draft hits” weren’t developed in the AHL

Well they are the two ytou mentioned. Gad has looked like poop. He needs to play more? No, he needs to earn it. They don't get to play more until they play better. Lind is playing lots, since playing a better game and now is thriving. That's how development works: holding guys accountable. Green has done it brilliantly with JV and Goldy. I don't think he's the best coach, but he is good that way.

lol... a third or fourth post about Lind and Gad. All repeated stuff.

The point just went right over your head didn't it?

I never called him a #1, once. I merely cited a scenario where he was signed and quite frankly IMO, Gardiner and Hughes will be better than either Edler or Tanev next season....

Maybe. But he’s a fair bit younger and more durable than Edler which is who he is replacing. He’s also a improvement offensively. You bring back both and all of a sudden you have not one but three that can actaully meaningfully contribute. What a novelty, some depth!
- neem55

Thats the point, not necessarily that Gardiner is an actual #1.

You literally mentioned them and then said “it’s not about them”... i mean reasonable things bare repeating when you confront and absense of logic.

He isnt. He would take a back seat to quinn in a few years ideally.

I don’t care about their team success, all that matters is how Cull and co develop the prospects and that remains TBD.

For me ZMac is the only one this season who’s really been a pleasant surprise relative to expectations for him.

Im not even advocating for Gardiner......was just making a point about sliding 2 declining defensemen down the depth chart pushing out even pooptier players.....

One could argue that Juolevi was in that category until he got hurt. Also, the tough love has impacted Kole Lind.

Also......Demko.

I explained that the focus was not on them and regretted mentioning them in my post. Don't try so hard to stay pages behind neem. I was just trying to have a discussion about it.

Stats for OJ were nice, but his 5v5 defensive play was weak, even by AHL standards.

Lind has been disappointing for me overall.

We're on the same page here. I'm talking about developing players and they are talking about whats best for Utica. I agree that players should earn minutes up in the NHL because its not a development league but the strategy needs to be altered down in Utica to balance it out more. No gifts for the undeserving but the coaches in Utica should be more patient with the learning curves and if they are not, then they are stalling development.

Fair, however, from my understanding it was improving.

As for Lind, I wouldn't say his season was successful by any measure but the key point is that he has turned it around in the last month.

Improvement is what I am trying to highlight and how it is reason for optimism.

Press conference with Jim - looks like he had a fresh box of Just For Men

Talks about Quinn, safeguarding him against Seattle draft, when he'll suit up, Lockwood contract, Hutton injury, Hopefully signing D college FA, Edler/Tanev always being injured/trades/contract

Jim said he expected Loui to be a 20 goal scorer, he hasn't done that, its been disappointing - at the the end of the year we'll sit down with him and see where he fits in moving forward - like to see some Gagner style tough love!

I'd tell Loui you got two options - play in Kalamazoo or use all that money we wasted on you to buy a one way ticket to (frank) Off Ville
