He's blood line is out there, I'm sure. Wiz has a Swedish left shooting Dman going at pick 8..Philip Broberg. |

Savvy, here's an alternative if you choose to stay, which is what I hope you choose because you're a good guy and add something to the board. Maybe just scroll past the posts of the posters whose sunny dispositions bother you. - mohel
Mo, I do that as much as possible.
What I actually like is a mix of both in hopes of getting a more rounded view. The total gloom and doom is no fun, nor is the unicorns and rainbows.
I've actually not minded (too greatly) the team because expectations were tempered (in spite of front-office proclamations otherwise). What I have liked is that they've played hard/competed more than the 20 min a night they were under Q. I didn't get to see the Dallas game but would love a repeat of that D effort (not just by the D but the forwards).
For me and I know many others, jury is out on JC. I want to see what Stan does in the offseason, what the players do in their offseason to take next step and what JC does in camp moving forward.
Peace. |

This team has been fun to watch since the start of the year. That said it is great to see them win and put that effort that we all expect only if this team did it sooner. What really gets me is this team seems to thrive under desperation even during the championship seasons. Seriously why does it have to get to that point. There is enough leadership in that locker room to not allow it. However it seems like this team is playing well enough to miss the playoffs and at the same time kill any chances of getting a top 5 pick. If they keep playing well it could be interesting the next couple of weeks. |

Couldn't get to the game, so was watching the local home TV, and Razor kept going on about the 'Hawks transition game. He said that both the fore & back-checking was giving them more opportunities for transition. Is it possible that JC is preaching that to shore up the shaky defense. That seems to be something the team could buy into, as much as they like the offensive side of the game. Maybe a building block JC can incorporate in the offseason, to his defensive scheme? |

I was making a play on words since a poster said he no longer cheers for ex Blackhawks and could care less if they got stuck in traffic on way to game. Obviously for a team that stresses speed game they commit their fair share of hits - even if one member avoids the traffic areas! (when he is not injured). |

Not sure how much of the 2-1 win was the result of Dallas not going to the paint and playing a perimeter game on Saturday. Methinks it would be a much higher score if the team went there. |

Just an observation, but the last few games I have seen many players falling all over the ice, most of them with no one around them. I wonder if the quality of ice is deteriorating as the season goes on, buildings not spending as much time keeping the ice is great condition. Or, is it Bettman parity? - powerenforcer
Of course it’s bettman oarity; he doesn’t want the hawks to win.
I am sure he somehow slipped skates with transformer blades into the hawks locker room and Gary can — at the flick of a joy stick — mysteriously take the edge off any hawks’ skate he wants to initiate a blowout whenever the hawks appear to be making process. Can’t be happening any other way... I know that cause I read it in the Internet.

Savvy said...... "No, actually mohel, if you read paulr's reply, it was exactly that kind of post that has kept me away. JJ has moved on. And just like TC now, giving Blackhawk fans a place to "converse" about all aspects of the team is a good thing.
I didn't agree with everything JJ said. Nor did I believe every rumor but then again, rumors are just that, right?
It's not the fact that some may agree and some may not, more the issue of having old topics brought up again and again. Like the recent topic of JJ saying Debrincat wouldn't be successful, needed time in the A, had a bad attitude. OK, fine. He made a bad call on it. So be it, but then it gets hammered over and over and brought up again and again. Not enjoyable. At least not for me."
Well, you wrote that it is tiring if one doesn't fall in line with the everything is great narrative, which you clearly don't (and never have). That's an interesting take from somebody whose every post - for years - was about how Q was an idiot because of his use of Leddy. Now that's a narrative. One that lot's of people disagreed with. Should they have pouted and left? There are many negative narratives constantly revisited here. You don't complain about those, eh? Just the narratives that counter yours.
One point about the previous blogger - it has nothing to do with making a bad call; it is the manner in which he treated posters who disagreed with him. And the making up rumors thing. - mohel

The other way of looking at it is the Blackhawks kept the Stars on the perimeter, which is what I thought I saw. When the Stars did get to the middle, they had quality scoring chances and Crow stepped up. |

What worries me about Perlini is that he needs to play a bit smarter. Nice to see him chip in some offense, but I'm not sold on him playing away from the puck. He reminds me a lot of Panik. Good size, fast, can shoot, will score when playing with good players and the rebounds and chances are there. Away from the puck....still a lot to be desired. Perlini is young and there is time for him to improve.
It would be great if the Hawks had Hossa around still, because I bet he would help some of these guys learn. I think just losing him as a resource at practice or on the bench was a negative when it comes to learning from his experience and example. I remember hearing how guys didn't like to battle Hossa at practice. (Also, I'm certain they would elevate their effort to try to best him)
Just to echo some of the other comments, they Hawks issues are not just personnel. It is willingness to pay the price to make the play and desire to go the extra distance. There are systemic issues in their play and it isn't just some guys. - breadbag
Panik is a far better defensively than Perlini. At this point, all I want to see is a consistent effort from Perlini. That would be a step in the right direction |

As long as the Hawks pick top 12 I like their chances. At 8 I would take Krebs, Turcotte, or Newhook as centers. My first choice is Krebs then Newhook. I think they fit what the Hawks do really well.
Krebs plays on a really bad team but always competes and puts up points.
Newhook plays in a lower league, plays extremely fast and has great puck skills. Not as good defensively as Krebs or Turcotte. |

Not that early. At 8 one of these 4 should be around..Turcotte, Boldy, Zegras or Byram.
One of those 4 is the guy to get. Broberg is a reach at 8. So is Newhook especially he plays in a league a tier below junior A |

I know dmen take longer to develop but Byram and Joker, that would be nice, but i doubt he makes it past the top 5 but crazier things have happened |

There is a lot of movement after the top 2 in this draft. Seems Cozen and Dachs are falling a bit. Zegras seems to rising. The Russian isn't coming over right away and I think that may drop him.
I would be thrilled with Boldy or Turcotte.
Zegras is producing no matter where they play him or with who. |
