Wilson’s suspension was reduced from 20 to 14 games after going through a neutral arbitrator but idk if that’s considered a full overturn.

ty

over 800 NHL games played and no other fines or suspensions. I would think that holds a lot of weight.

No problem! I agree it should. And jake doesn’t really even play a physical game. Only time I can really think of him getting fired up / violent is the 14-15 season when he jumped Scuderi, but pretty sure Scuderi hit him with a cheap shot which got him mad

Another year watching Pitt be better, hold the faith our time is coming. Pitt will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat once Sid and MAlfxck slow a little. Just seeing what the new D can do shows what the future holds for the Flyers.

this season

Don't dare to hope, they miss by 5 points

please don't say the Sens are an easy win, no such thing going into a game.

I dont understand why Hart is not starting. This is the perfect get back out there game. Who in their right mind throws a rookie into the fire VS WSH first game back from injury...... Hart should start tonight

Morin needs to play soon so he's fully ready to face the Islanders on the 23rd. And call up Goulbourne to play that game instead of Varone, if you have to. Make those pathetic whining babies eat their words.

The only thing holding weight in this process is DoPS chief Stephane Quintal's head, which is presumably full of cement.

Has a DoPS decision ever been overturned from an appeal?
- aightwebang17

Wilson's 20 game suspension went down to 14.

I have an issue with any suspension. Boychuk was NOT trying to play the puck. His stick position and posture were that of a player looking to make a hit -- one hand on the stick, a righthanded shooter with the puck coming around the right boards but with his stick to the left, approaching directly at Voracek.

Thank you Bill, always the voice of reason.

The more I watch the Jake play the more I am amazed he got any suspension let alone two games.

Like I said yesterday, it's clearly interference, 0 issue with a 2 minute penalty there.
Make it a 5 because they want hitting and physical play out of the game okay whatever.

A 2 game suspension? GTFO

In other news...

Player                        GP    G    A    PTS    +/-
Travis Sanheim            68    9    22    31     3
Shayne Gostisbehere   65    6    24    30    -15

- jsh139

You left off Ivan Provorov: 68 GP, 7 G, 25A, -10

Provorov isn't out for as many 6 on 5 situations as Ghost, meaning he's not getting that many minuses from ENGs against. And so his 5on5 GF% is only slightly higher than Ghost's.

http://www.naturalstattri...&td=&tgp=410&lines=single

Obviously, the takeaway here is they both suck and should be traded.

First, off...obviously, I’m not Bill so I’m not replying for him. You and I and others hashed out this argument yesterday, and I have no desire to do so again.

We disagree. Many highly knowledgeable people can look at the same play and see things differently. This is called controversial. There is a level of which a play is so controversial that using it as an example for supplemental discipline will backfire. This is such a case.

Not everyone will agree on which plays should receive supplemental discipline. Of course, one team might always—the victim of the infraction. In this case, part of what people like me disagree with you on this play is who was the aggressor—Boychuck. Don’t even bother repeating your view—Voracek. The controversy is very relevant to why this is not a case for suspension. It is a minority viewpoint on a controversial play.

The in-game referee said the head was not the primary point of contact by not giving a game misconduct. The play has already been penalized. This whole debacle is a black stain on the already capricious WoJ.

- NC Flyers Fan

So were back to you telling me what I can do again? If you don't want to engage in conversation, why reply? I'll address your points. First of all, a defenseman skating hard down on a pinch is a common play. What is illegal about that? Nothing? I'd argue that Voracek was the aggressor and caused the contact. Realize that the official's ruling on the ice does not determine the outcome of the play. Suspensions have been levied on plays where there was no penalty call on the play by the on ice officials. By that point using the same criteria, there as noting wrong with the play you linked a video to of Giroux getting his head rammed into the boards because the on ice refs didn't call a penalty. I agree that many can look at a play and see things different which is why speculation should be avoided. Specifically what Boychuk's intent was and what he was going to do and instead focus on what actually happened. I also don't follow the logic of if there is controversy and people see it differently means that it is not a case for a suspension. That doesn't make any sense.

Pretty sure Quintal isn't the head of DOPS anymore. It's George Parros.

I remember thinking the 5 minute penalty was a bullpoop call, but I understood it, because they were in LAWN GUYLAND.

A 2 game suspension for defending yourself is some Twilight Zone poop.

As good as Couturier has been recently once again Giroux is having another statistically solid season.

Wanted to bring this up as I argued with a "Philly sports fan" over the weekend about how Giroux is not a shell of his best days.

He currently has 73 points in 68 games and is a +14 and is on pace for roughly 90 points. If he hits that total it will be his 3 season of 90 or more points.

It's ridiculous when I talk to the WIP type people out there and how they rag on G.

Malkin felt that he was defending himself from his neck being targeted which was recently injured on the stick swing against Raffl. Should he have not been suspensed?

Small addition: if our PP was decent this season, G would have had more points.

You're allowed to defend yourself with your body in certain circumstances.

You're never allowed to defend yourself by swinging your stick in the NHL.

Kucherov is having a monster year and is currently 13 points a head of the next person.
