OK I am on vacation, in Tampa actually, but didn't see the game.
Score looks bad, were they that bad? - Aetherial
They were awful. Best player on Leafs was probably Gauthier if that tells you anything.

I'd be tempted to go back and revisit the tape if 'rag it' actually meant anything |

There seems to be an explanation for the term... although I've never heard it before...
Weird situation... |

Really, there's British meatballs called that? I had a cat named Meatball. - Zezel
Yup. They're basically made from the grind of cheap cuts of meat, usually pork and beef. Commercially, they usually come prepackaged in a gravy. |

Also, right at the end of the clip you can hear "rag, rag, rag!" (At least, I hope it's that ) - lumlums

I'd never heard it before last night following the twitter thread.
That said I assume it's a regional term and not used by everyone. My country has about 18 (frank)ing ways of saying "bread roll", so I don't see why there wouldn't be a few different ways of telling someone to hold on to the puck... |

We'll know for sure when Rielly makes a statement. I expect him to own up to it if he said it. Besides, the NHL and the internet are on the case. The truth will come out sooner or later.
Regardless.

Entirely possible...
I don't think I can be convinced those two voices are the same person... Everything about them is different...
The plot thickens... |

I expect he would also.
they could easily just ask the Ref what he said and i think that would be the end of it. |

Holy (frank)ing poop bad line change. And we are talking about this baloney. Unless they have a close up of him mouthing the words and actual clear video evidence move on please. It was bad enough watching Freddie let four softies dribble into the net, while the other guy was standing on head. Leafs had the flu, ok... and they crapped the bed.

fire Dubas.
both for not doing his job before trade deadline.
and for not having his players' back.
guy is more worries about hiring a 'diverse staff'than winning a stanley cup.
saying "(frank)ing fa**ot" during a game doesn't mean you hate gay people.
apparently a "i'm going to kill you!" in the heat of the moment is way less worse than saying fa****... what a poopty mentality a lot of people have. pretending to be politically correct but not really doing anything.
as well - first world problems ; people lose their poop over a bad word and at he same time the same governments that are now being so hard defending lgbtqsievf rights are bombing innocent children in other parts of the world for bad reasons. sone perspective please sirs.. - plantheparade

I'v never heard Rag it before, but I guess its a thing.
We will see what the NHL comes up with, but at this time I cant believe MR would say that, nothing in his career with the Leafs has shown he is that person.
If he did, well suspend away, and he deserves whatever he gets - senstroll
C mon anyone who's played hockey knows that ragging the puck means to kill time and this would be a situation where one would do so. Now did someone else yell that idk but I think this whole thing is over blown. Too much soy in the worlds diet no one can handle anything anymore. If a player called a ref a (frank)ing someone who is attracted to the opposite sex that loudly he would be in the box for 10
Edit I love the hockey buzz translator |

Rag the puck saying has been around for decades. My coach would yell "Rag it" to the best puck handler on the team when we had the lead. In other words, keep puck possession and the clock moving. Blows my mind how many fans have never heard it.

Yeah, I read Wiki and know what it means...
I hope you get some sleep tonight knowing many hockey fans haven't heard the term before... It must be a struggle for you to have all that knowledge in your brain...

Can confirm: "rag it" absolutely is a hockey term.
It means to skate around with the puck in low-danger areas - hang on to it away from opposition to kill time. |

Did you play hockey ever? I ask because it's something people who play would know more than what you would hear on TV. Ask the players I'd say 95% know what it means |
