Amen. I am still angered by his firing.

Having said that, major kudos to Fletch as I was initially worried that he was brought in to go all in right away.. trade picks and prospects for a win now. He hasn't done this. I am not sure if Hextall would have fired Hak or not. Kind of think he would have at season's end. Also I'm sure he would have traded Simmer, and called up some of the youth he saw as being ready.

Really goes to show that the org simply had a major conflict with Hextall's style rather than his plan. Because of his actions though, we have cap space, youth ready to contribute at the NHL level now, bright prospects in the pipe, and few terrible contracts.

100% feel the same way. I'm glad Fletcher hasn't done anything drastic. We will see what he does in the off-season.

NCHC All Rookie Team Voting and Noah Cates is leading the vote. BigE was really high on the boy coming out of the draft. He has been a steady climber. Keep an eye on this kid.

Either. Both. What's the difference? I'm speculating on how the team would be different today with Hextall/Hakstol instead of how it is now (in reality) with Fletcher/Gordon. You said, "I don't think there has been anything different that has happened that wasn't going to happen under Hextall." You're speculating. I'm speculating. That's a given. I'm just trying to say there is no need for you to point out that I'm speculating.
- Dkos

Yes, in that area I'm speculating but I don't think it's s stretch to think that players like Wiese and Lehtera weren't going to be with the Flyers much longer whether Hextall or Fletcher was the GM.

Remember though, those games with 3 points being given out, especially how we all seem to be playing one another, need to be kept at a minimum of minimums. They said it last night when we went into the 3rd up 3-1 as in our last game vs the Sens we lost, we hope those lost points don't come back and bite us at the end....
- sjk540

Why would those points haunt us any more than the 4 points lost VS CBJ? The reality is any game could be looked at as a game to haunt us. What about 1 VS MTL we lost.

The NHL says a decision on Jake Voracek’s appeal will not be made tonight. Expect it on Wed. #Flyers host Caps on Thursday.

Makes no sense why they can’t come to a conclusion today/tonight. But maybe it’s a sign the reduction is possible rather than a flat out no today

Our made up schedule of when they should be contenders. Now you know exactly what schedule i refer to.
Consensus was we were a bubble team this year and 20-21 is the year we emerge. I think we emerge next season now after finally seeing the kids take on bigger roles and succeed.
Add in the kids on try outs or later round picks and that puts this team further ahead than planned

- sILKAsSINASALO

they are not further ahead. next season will be what year of this rebuild?

Upon further review, the DOPS has decided to add 2 more games because a review of the player's history indicates that he has been associated with this jersey:

Throwback to the 2009 finals and Bettmans obsession and plan overshadowing the rules and equal treatment to all teams... so when you are angry about Jakes suspension, remember they have a plan and you have to beat the other team and the refs and the rules they change as they go along if they dont want you to win...worth a read...remember Malkin had not tied down his jersey as well as instigating a fight in the last 5 minutes.

Reversal of Evgeni Malkin's Suspension a Continuation of Bad Trend
Tom DeMatteoJune 2, 2009

DETROIT - MAY 31: Evgeni Malkin #71 of the Pittsburgh Penguins fights against Henrik Zetterberg #40 of the Detroit Red Wings during Game Two of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals at Joe Louis Arena on May 31, 2009 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by Claus Andersen/Getty Images)

The decision to rescind the instigator penalty Evgeni Malkin picked up at the end of Game Two of the Stanley Cup Finals on Sunday night says more about the increasing league control of the NHL and NBA Playoffs than it does about Gary Bettman's love affair with the Penguins.

Sure, since Sidney Crosby became a Pittsburgh Penguin, the league has put all their marketing eggs in his basket. And as a result, the league has, in my opinion, bent over backwards for the Penguins. All you have to do is look at the scheduling of the Finals.

The Red Wings are banged up, with several stars sitting out. So naturally, the league schedules the first two games of the NHL Finals on back-to-back days. Now they keep Malkin available for Game Three.

The instigator rules are in the books to keep players (and coaches) from sending messages at the end of games. Malkin swinging his stick, dropping his gloves, and throwing punches at Henrik Zetterberg (well before Zetterberg dropped his) is a clear case of Malkin sending a message at the end of a Penguins loss.

Malkin has a history of this type of outburst. He should have been suspended during the playoffs last year after slew-footing the Rangers Paul Mara twice in the final moments of Game Four of the Eastern Conference Semifinals (also a Penguins loss).

But rescinding the Malkin instigator penalty (and the one-game suspension that goes along with it) is just a continuation of a disturbing trends during the spring playoff season. Scott Walker of the Carolina Hurricanes also had his late game instigator penalty rescinded after starting a fight with Aaron Ward of the Bruins.

And I cannot even count all of the ex-post-facto changes made by the NBA during the playoffs.

While all playoff games should be reviewed by the leagues, this new trend of changing the results after the fact must stop. The NBA is not far removed from a gambling scandal involving a referee. Changing the results of a game after the fact—behind closed doors in the league offices—just feeds the fire of those who think that the leagues have agendas as to who wins these games.

I'm all for instant replay during a game—anything to make sure that the right call is made. During the game. But as soon as the game ends, the game should be over.

And final.

God forbid they actually deliberate on something. DOPS seems like such a crap-shoot. They're probably spinning the wheel to determine a course of action.

Yeah. I think this is a good sign. Think if it was a no then a statement would be simple. But to reduce they are going to have to justify it w/o trying to make the DOPS look like dopes. I’m feeling a 93 on the ice for Wash. I believe.

Can someone make sense of a car that has Leafs, Avs, and Stars bumper stickers on it? I don't want to believe someone can think that they're allowed to have three favorite teams. Trying to think of a player that has played for all three teams and I've got nothing.

Perhaps a shared vehicle? Or a passed down sticker tradition for each new owner?
