I've wondered if they have done any research or have any medical findings on people with gender dysphoria. Do you know? Is there any chromosomes or some such that we think might cause people to innately feel like they should be the opposite sex?
- Thecakeisalie

I don't know for sure on that.

I suspect that such a study is being undertaken, but I'm not aware of any results out there as of yet. One complication of course is that body chemistry is much more complicated than simple chromosomes and DNA - there's a whole crap-ton of chemicals swimming around in our brains and bodies, so it would take a lot to fully associate that with gender dysphoria, or indeed something else.

Taking a cruise to Bermuda in October and love snorkeling.

*Commence mind erasing of shark talk*

They should mostly be up by my way though and not where I’m traveling at that point. Their numbers down cape cod Massachusetts have been wild

No gracias.

Also those sharks are Great Whites

- RickJames77

Horseshoe Bay is an amazing public beach. Lots of great cove's to explore around the island. Hog Penny is a great pub downtown right off the dock. Lived in Bermuda for a bit as a kid, hope you get some time to roam around there. The pink sand is cool.

Should it be against the law if you misgender someone?

No, absolutely not.

I mean, I see words, but this entire post has the substance of a duck fart.

I never once unloaded on Rielly. If, hypothetically, it was proven that he had said what it was suggested, he would be rightly sanctioned, and I would support it. If, as indeed was the case, he was proven to not say it, I would support him. This is the court of opinion however; innocent until proven guilty doesn't work here.

And I do find it funny you bringing up antisemitism when you've been female doging about "globalism" for months - that's just a way that anti-Semites refer to Jewish people with money when it's too obvious to point out their religion

My political slant is simple - don't be a poop person. Sadly it's the right that seem to be condoning all the homophobic, misogynistic and xenophobic poop these days though - so get your own house/basement in order before you venture out...

But Emoji King, you said that people were hurt over a slur that never happened. If they were hurt, it was due to someone looking for an excuse to slag an innocent player. Maybe those people were conditioned to look for insulting behavior and were hypersensitive. That's a real issue with those on the Left. They look for indiscretions that aren't. So why should truthful individuals suffer for their mental conditioning?

I actually have owned my current house for 16 years, so that's a ridiculous statement from a vain individual that seems to have an axe to grind against people with a different opinion. And for the record, I'm none of the above leftist buzz words that your friends at Media Matters for America have lent you. Maybe you need to get an education on what it's like to see life as a Conservative, before you insult it.

And as for not wanting to be a sh!t person, you don't practice what you preach. You're vain, insulting and condescending. But you have the right to say whatever you like. Free speech.....it's a great thing. Too bad that the Left doesn't agree.

Your antisemitism comment is almost laughable, thinking that I hate Jewish people. I'll send you a postcard from Jerusalem next week, if you send me your address.

Have a good night.....

Ben is such a (frank)ing dink.

And I call him a dink on account of him being, figuratively, an absolute penis. But also on account of him being about 5'3.

I’m not 100% sure on this but I was sure I read somewhere that it is against the law in Canada to misgender someone.. (I’d assume it’s more complex than that, I’d hope at the very least)

People were hurt because the idea that such a slur happened was believable. And because so many reacted by saying "So what? It's just a word!

Me pointing out your BS is not vein, insulting or condescending. It's calling an apple an apple. Or Tim Apple. Sorry if that offends you, eh?

I assume so too.

I mean, if it's something that happens systematically once all preferences have been given, then I could see it. But by assumption, it would take a lot to prove that.

Isn't that basically what made Jordan Peterson famous? He was standing up against new legislation that mandated how you addressed people regarding gender?
From what I understand, his main argument on the subject was that on an individual basis, he wasn't against addressing someone how they wished, but he didn't like them making it a law because it set a precedent about censorship and could open up for more encroachments on free speech.

Not really. He was using his position to try and be an authority on something that he really had no position or experience to be.

He was trying to argue science in a situation where his "science" was flawed.

Free speech in Canada is not the same as the US. There are laws prohibiting hate speech, and the government absolutely can intervene in situations where this is violated.

His main argument was BS - referring to somebody as they want isn't in any way censorship. It's basic decency.

I don't think you have all the facts on this one. There was a specific bill, bil C-16, that he was originally speaking out about because he said it infringed on free speech. I know he's said a lot of other stuff too, but this is what I'm referring to.

Here's what I found on wikipedia for what it's worth:
He stated that his objection to the bill was based on potential free speech implications if the Criminal Code is amended, as he claimed he could then be prosecuted under provincial human rights laws if he refuses to call a transgender student or faculty member by the individual's preferred pronoun.[78] Furthermore, he argued that the new amendments, paired with section 46.3 of the Ontario Human Rights Code, would make it possible for employers and organizations to be subject to punishment under the code if any employee or associate says anything that can be construed "directly or indirectly" as offensive, "whether intentionally or unintentionally".[79] Other academics and lawyers challenged Peterson's interpretation of C-16.

My nephew has been going through the whole interview process for the RCMP. Very high pressure stuff while hooked up to a polygraph. They really want him because he’s 6’ 6” with a spotless record. He was told that if he belonged to the LGBTQ community or if he went by Zir he’d be in already.

Oh look, another indoctrinated one. The joke is the drama teacher that poses as a Prime Minister and mutes the females in his cabinet. At least DJT is doing something about the economy and making the U.S. energy independent. At least he cares about his first responders and his rank and file military personal. He actually wants to get America out of the quagmires in Syria and Afghanistan and rebuild his military, but you'd never see that. CNN and their ilk will continue to fill your empty skull with Leftist pablum. Enjoy your evening!

See that's where things go too far. I thought people were fighting for equality, not favoritism. Don't discriminate and refuse him entry for belonging to the LGBTQ or going by Zir, but it shouldn't be more than that, or it's just the opposite of the "old boys club" people complain about.

Ok, female doges. I brought this up last night because it was on TV and it's on again tonight, so I'm bringing it up again. Sportsnet is showing people playing the video game Overwatch, and I have absolutely no clue what the goal is.

It just looks like pure mayhem and a lot of jumping around.
