Agreed.
Canucks need top 3 pick in order to get him, he might be available at 4th, but I doubt it. - Reubenkincade
From the majority of draft sites Podkolzin is 3, Byram 4, then it gets a little muddled with Dach, Cozens, Boldy, Krebs, Turcotte etc.
Either way I think we get a great player picking in the top 7 or so.
IYP - If we do get Byram any chance he steps into the lineup next year or is he a back to junior for a couple years kid? |

He is bang on like usual. No panarin and even more importantly - no EK - CanuckDon
That probably will not shut him up but I applaud the futile effort. |

I believe he is very close to being nhl ready, unfortuneately, he would be sent back too Juniors.
He would be ready, if he could get a bit of seasoning in the AHL.
They really need to fix that rule about Juniors, that are exceptional status, having to go back. |

Panarin and EK are both pipedreams, it's true.
We need to look at the 2nd-4th tier of UFA's, which are more realistic.
ANDERS LEE, LW, 28
Good for 25 and 25 most likely.
2018-19 cap hit: $3,750,000.
MICHEAL FERLAND, LW, 27
Less scoring and more grit. 20 goal scorer, even on Vancouver.
2018-19 cap hit: $1,750,000 |

I have no idea what they're worth tbh.
But i think Lee would look good on the left wing with Petey and Brock.
Ferland would be a JV replacement, if you could package him up (not that i want him moved, but you've got to give to get) |

I am not a fan of the plan B route. I think Ferland is going to turn out to be James Neale 2.0
As much as people think we don't have trade chips we do. Trading for a controlled contract for 2-3 years is much better than a 6 year deal north of 5 mil.
Guys like Woo Madden and others will start showing signs of NHL ready in 2-3 years. |

Friedman said today there is no chance Panarin signs in Van today. Knock it off - CanuckDon
Well, if Friedman said that then I guess you're right although I wouldn't say there is no chance as Friedman is a mere mortal and not a God. If JB offered him 14m on July first I bet he'd sign!
If Friedman said to jump off a bridge, would you?
Is it not fun to dream? For me it is, I guess that explains why you're such a miserable millennial doesn't it ? |

Gross, you're looking at 2 contracts that Benning would throw 7x6m with NTC at. They wouldn't score 20 and 20 here.

fair enough.
I don't think we're a destination for Tier 1 UFA's to sign at the moment, so that's not an option IMO.
The plan B or Tier 2 route works for me.
Adding 1-2 UFA's a year that can potentially add depth, whilst holding onto to our assets makes sense to me.
The team have shown they're not obligated to play the signings either (eg Schaller).
If a kid can shine, they'll make the squad and force mgmt to move the dead weight.
Heck, even MDZ and Nilsson were moved for something at the end when the kids forced em out.
win-win. |

Anders Lee would score more like 30 and 30 playing with Brock and Petersson. |

Plan B is more Beagles and Rousell types players.
Todd Shannon was talking about how the Canucks ste happy with those moves and are looking to sign those more of those types of ufas in the off season.
No thanks |

meh.
I got nothing against either of those 2.
Beagle has done his job and Rousell has excelled imo. |
