Agreed. And their interference on Delia was the reason for the whistle when the puck ended up just laying in the blue paint during a mad scramble. Neither Doc or JR had a clue on why the whistle was blown....poor lack of knowledge of the situation. I'm betting Edzo would have caught that.

Leafs with 30 SOG in the 3rd. There were all over the Hawks and it didn't help that some of the veterans couldn't make a play. That ring around by Keith was weak - I'm not sure if it would have had enough velocity to clear the zone even if the Toronto player hadn't been there. And then Seabrook with his usual fumble-itis clearing attempt.
A really fun game was turned into a sh!tshow in a matter of a few minutes.
But ... 2 points. - EbonyRaptor
I bet about 2/3 of them were results of rebounds! |

Wow, the Leaf blog is over 1,100 and going strong. They seem ... unhappy.
Heck of a win, it’s still a big hill to climb, they’re probably going to have to get to 88 points. But never say never.
And just caught a replay of the 4th Hawk goal (Saad’s). Four (4) Leafs went to chase Sikura in the corner with the puck, leaving Saad wide open in front of the net. It’s hard to teach defense that bad. - scottak
Its only a matter of time - the press in Toronto are going to make Mike Babcock's life more miserable than Paul Manafort's. Every coaching decision is going to be magnified and torn to shreds. And then they will turn on GM Kyle Dufus followed by President Shanahan for getting rid of Lou Lamoriello. After that players - Tavares and Matthews.
It's going to be so much fun for anybody who hates the Leafs. |

My point was that if Bowman and management now realize that 19 and 88 still have Cup potential because of the year they're both having, they might not be willing to wait 2 or 3 years for Beaudin, Mitchell, Joki, and Bovquist to be "ready" for a Cup run.
Yes the TD showed us (by doing nothing) that they are still in the evaluation mode, but it's more and more evident to everybody that a couple of top quality dmen are needed NEXT SEASON.
And I'm not sure that a Chychryn or a Manson couldn't be top 2 dmen if they were given the chance. What possible current top 2 dmen are going to be available anywhere in the league ? I'm guessing none. - Hawkytalk
Not only valid what you say but, moreover, Manson is not having a good season and Chychryn blew against us
Yet Murray dearly loves his hard nosed players and the Arizona GM dearly adores his speed skill #1 choices (except when he thinks he made a mistake - like.Perlini - not Chychryn). Although Chychryn had been injury prone, I'm sure he remains highly regarded. He probably has played better against everyone else than the hiccup against us.

What are the chances that we have four 30 goal scorers at one time? When's the last time we did that? |

Hawks are 21-11-3=45 in their last 35 games.
That’s on pace for 104 over a full season.
Now, it’s NOT a full season - and, yeah, basically just outscored a lot of teams while playing bad defense until very recently.
But it’s approaching 1/2 of one - so I think it means something - if only in teaching a lot of players who hadn’t won before (or who maybe had forgotten) how to win.
Would this roster be a Cut contender next season? I doubt it.
But better to end a season this way than the way last season ended. |

Manson is meh IMO. Hawks fans hear that name and have fond flashbacks, but it wouldn’t be the same. |

Two weeks ago Perlini looked lost, he skated around seemingly in a fog, it looked like he had no idea what he was doing or what he was supposed to do and worst of all he looked disinterested and lazy. Then in the last 2 weeks or so it was like the movie Awakenings where suddenly the lights turn on and he wakes up from a slumber.
Last night I thought Perlini had his best game as a Blackhawk, better even than his night against the Coyotes. Perlini looked big, fast, strong and confident. That pass to ADB for his goal was amazing and he made other good smart plays. I won't get to far ahead of myself and claim he's the next whomever but he's been looking really good and I'd like to see him build on that. There are still weak parts of his game. He really has no idea what to do in his end when the Hawks are under pressure. He seems hesitant at times when he's forechecking. If he can enhance his game he could be really valuable and can be an all round player who is needed in all situations. I thought a couple of months ago that Bowman had won the trade just getting Strome, if this is the real Perlini, Bowman should be investigated for robbery. |

Going back to 2008(?) the Hawks missed the playoffs but ended the season playing very well and messing with teams trying to make the postseason. Next year they lost to Detroit in the 3rd round. So what they are doing now means something.
Roster needs some tweaks and additions on the blueline. And you can see what Crawford playing well means to this team.
There is reason for optimism. |

I don't see him being a large upgrade over what we currently have or a top pairing guy that would help's slot everyone else. |

If you took out Perlini's name and inserted Bickell's... its the exact same story. Bickell would go through stages when he looked like a deer in the headlights, and then suddenly be a force for a week or two and then settle back into being a guy who didn't seem to care.
Hopefully Perlini changes that narrative and gains some consistency. |
