I always blame those starts to bad preparing by the coaches, but with pro's it really shouldn't be necessary...

If you have to be coached to "get up" for a hockey game...
I've never once got pumped up for a game by a coach, anyone who says that's the coaches job is out to lunch.
You're accountable to the players in the room. That's why you get up for games. period
