Erod and 4th line LW can kill Penalities. The 3rd line C we’d bring in would have to be good defensively and see PK time as well. Eichel has played PK sparingly as well and would have to shoulder some defensive zone starts and play against teams top lines. That is Jacks next step in his development, the defensive acumen and playing against other teams top competition. The 3rd line and Erod’s line would shoulder the rest of the defensive starts. Reinhart is one of our better defensive forwards tbh and even if Mitts continues to develop his two way game that line should not be a total liability defensively when they are on the ice either.

why trade for Skinner & Sheary?

Sheary doesn’t belong on a line getting heavy def zone use
Neither does Mitts or Eichel
Maybe they could at times, eventually
But we need them in heavy offensive situations now bc we don’t have balanced scoring throughout the lineup

U can’t compare our situation to Toronto who has 3 lines that can score with anyone
And 2 excellent 2way centers- JT & Kadri

Maybe one day we can build a lineup like that
But we aren’t anywhere close right now

Sheary is useless to us becuase he isn’t good enough to play top 6 minutes and doesn’t offer us anything in terms of bottom 6 value. Eichel will have to play against other teams top lines there is no way around it. The 3rd line C we bring in should be able to handle the defensive matchups along with the 4th line. I don’t know what else to say. To get your dream scenario done in one offseason is nearly impossible. What I have listed is more realistic whether or not it’s ideal or not.

So we could wait until game 50 to b**** about Olofsson, Smith, Nylander getting time with the big club when they are in a perfect situation developing on a 1st place Rochester team. I’m sure Botts had the intention to allow this team to at least be competitive and play meaningful games down the stretch and compete for the final wild card spot. However once the 50th game rolled around and he realized how lucky that 10 game winning streak was I’m sure he had his eyes on the best USMDT probably in its history along with the talent coming out of the WHL and OHL to a lesser extent.

Trotting out Briere and Dumont was a nice injection of nostalgia for the fans today. “That’ll keep these chumps clapping” was probably the thought.

I’d be mildly surprised if Phil gets canned. I think JB really likes him. It would probably have to come from ownership, and who the hell know what they think of anything?

Botts has already shuffled around a ton of Titanic deck chairs on the bottom 6, and last D pairing.

It’s possible he’ll replace the current set of losers with another set with different name plates and numbers. Fans will be jazzed about it until it starts to look identical to every other year.

Remember when I said KBC was a toxic environment from the top down? That venom is slowly leaking into the blocks around it. Don't even go near Pearl Street Brewery on a game night. The bars around the arena are uninhabitable.
