I'd rather take Horton's contract than Marleau and then have to feel obligated to play him most games. I don't want another geezer on his retirement tour clogging up the lineup so prospects that may have a future with the Hawks can't get in the lineup. - EbonyRaptor
The only way I would take a bad contract is if it lands us a top 4 defenseman, Toronto doesn’t have that to give. |

But if their prospect or player is better than half of your projects they have to make the trade, it's about amassing the most talent possible and able to afford them. |

I don't think either of those d-prospects are better than our d-prospects - at best they are on par with our guys. If we're going to saddle ourselves with Marleau we should get something better that the same kind of prospect we already have in abundance.

Sandin is a left shot D, but would be nice to see StanBo turn the tables and poach talent for cheap from a cap-crunched team like Toronto or Tampa this summer |

But why do that? Murphy looks like poop on his offside. There is a reason not many demen play their offside anymore. The speed of the game is one and their skating ability is the other. The other yes forecheck are much faster as opposed to 20years ago. Plus Murphy isn't the best skater and is sometimes clumsy. Why make him play a side that makes him worse? - GPHawksfan
Murphy is at least has played both sides, not sure how good he is at playing his off side. I would imagine he's stronger on the right but have never looked up the metrics to see how he has fared either way.
Would I prefer a LHD paired with Murphy? Yes. But if a solid RHD who can play consistent defense on the 2nd pair and play in a shutdown role can be obtained at a reasonable deal, then I would strongly consider making that move. |

Flawed math. For the hawks to be at the percentage shown, they would have needed 37 out of 58 possible points. Whoever figured this ignores the effect of the 3-point game.
The hawks earned 37 points through the benefit of 12 regulation wins, 5 OT or SO wins and 3 OT or SO losses. The hawks performed at a 56.06 points percentage over the last 29 games. 29 games at 2 points plus the additional 8 loser points makes 66 potential points.
Hawks earned 37 points out of a possible 66 points; not 37 points out of a possible 59.
You can’t ignore the impact of the 3-point games if you are calculating point percentages.

It wasn't possible for the Hawks to get 66 points in the 29 games reference (skipping Jan 1 as it seems this is showing). You can't say they got 37 out of a possible 66. As an individual team, you can't earn 3 points from one game and trying to work that in doesn't really make sense. Each team individually can get 2,1, or 0 points. Yes, it is not a pure 2 points "total" for both teams per game, but the points percentage for each team is still a solid measure, even if it is slightly inflated by overtime and shootout losses. Relative to the league, the Hawks are earning points well in 2019. That isn't flawed math.

LOL that genre is essentially a mix of Metal and Electronic. Lots of Electric Guitar licks mixed into heavy bass. Quite the experience live and one heck of a release. My music taste is broad....from The Eagles, to Mettalica, to 311, to Blink 182, to Umphrey’s McGee, to Above and Beyond, and Bassnectar.
The worst thing about the Electromic Music Scene is all the young ladies walking around with virtually no clothes....
I’ll be at Lettuce at Red Rocks this summer too. Love me some Lettuce live. I can get down to anything besides Rap/Pop/County.
Avs Win, Wild Get one point, and Dallas losing to Vancouver right now. Gunna be one heck of a finish. Flames clinched a playoff spot today. - EnzoD
Umphreys now were talking! I was there circa 1999 in South Bend at Benchwarmers. First show and first tapers in chicago post moe. show. Sent breadman a nice list.
Enzo colorado has a great music sceene. Whats your favorite live band? Current or past? |

Red Rocks is the best venue I’ve ever experienced, and I did love Grant Park for Lollapalooza when I was living in the CHI. Umphrey’s plays Red Rocks 3 nights every year and their show last year was one of my favorites. Probably a toss-up between Umphrey’s and Lettuce for favorite live band. Also saw MOE. last year at the Rocks and enjoyed their show. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Lettuce, Moe., Umphrey’s, Dead and Co will all be be back in CO this summer and saw them all last year (plus EDM shows like Odesza, Illenium, Above and Beyond). This October I’m excited for Bob Moses/Rufus du Sol at the Rocks.
Can’t beat Colorado, let me tell ya. Speaking of which, I’ll be at the Pepsi Center next Saturday for the afternoon game with The Hawks in town. Should have huge playoff implications. |

I did the math. 3 point games are irrelevant. My analysis is based upon the fact that teams can only earn 2 points max per game.
If the season started Jan 1, the hawks would be in second place in their division, ahead of Nashville and Winnipeg, while playing 2 or 3 less games.
That covers 29 games.

One of those things we fans cannot really see, team chemistry, ebbs and flows through time. Methinks the boys are resurgent in this aspect. |

I can see your point about the 3 point games. In fact the Hawks and Wild have 9 OTL points each, more than any other teams in the Central. But with 10 games left in the season that single standings point hurts - Canucks blew a 2-0 lead yesterday vs the Stars; Wild and Blues also came from behind to get a point each. Hawks job to climb over 3 teams won't be easy. |

Never been to Co or red rocks. Was on the short bucket list. Funny thing Ive been to aboit 5 live shows in past 10 years. Seen about 300 from 1996 to 2009. Used to travel alot. Was into jam bands early and caught umprheys while in college still and multiple "bar" shows for alot of now big bands. Check out leftover salmon live and any videos from 90s into 2000s. Incredible and nothing like it.. And ominous seapods, the biggest little and ugliest band no one will ever know about. Disco biscuits were the best live band on the planet for a good summer run in 1999. My buddy was at moe. Rocks show last year. Im gonna check out some of the bands you mentioned. Good times! |
