You would think your gm had to try whatever he could to convince ROR to be part of the solution and part of the future. Who knows maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. Maybe ROR would have listened maybe he wouldn’t have.

The simple fact is that ROR is a number one center. Is he a top ten? No especially when it comes to pure offensive talent but he’s still an all star on what’s turning out to be a reasonable contract for what he brings. ( a contract I had originally thought was crazy when signed )

In the end you lost ROR for the hopes that Thompson ever develops and that draft picks can work out. When you think about it he had to want out because no one should trade a proven asset at his age on a reasonable contract unless you are in complete rebuild. He still has enough good years left at his age so even that could be argued against though.

Its crazy how you write a novella response to a 1 liner (like all the time). Your take on the game is truly awful, the only gameplay you're an expert in is nhl 19. Sit the (frank) down

Good post:

Only 1 idiot is going to continue to argue that ror could have stayed.

Why wouldn't ror want to start fresh in a new organization?

He's a good player, with a fair contract. I liked him in buffalo.
I'm not sure how many teams though were interested in ror "the person". Which handcuffed jbotts ability to get a bidding war going.

He took what he could get.

Well, he really could’ve
But that’s not at all what I’ve been saying

I’ve been replying to ppl who continue to trash the guy bc they’re haters

Sorry that the SPEEDY (😂😂) Berglund quit
Toe Drag Tage can’t hit the net
And Sobatka just plain blows
Horray!
Maybe the draft picks will work out in 5years though

We’d be A LOT BETTER off if we still had him
But even if he did have to go...
the return sucked

“We’d be a contender with O’Reilly” is one of the greatest takes I’ve read about the 2018-19 Sabres.

Nah no alternate here. Just pointing out your perception of the on-ice product seems like it comes from a video game. It just reeks of someone who has recreational hockey at best & has logged countless hours in GM mode

Its almost as people think hed be having the same statistical season on this team as he is having in st loius. He clearly came into this season re-energized. His mindset would have been a complete 180 going into training camp as a sabre

It’s almost as if he wasn’t here the last 3 years and we’ve all forgotten the results.

Jeff Skinner is having a better season than O’Reilly did at any point in his three years here and how much of a difference is in the standings does Skinner make on this current Sabre team who cannot defend anyone and has gotten the leagues worst goaltending for 4 months running

Or...
Eichel might be such a d!ck that HE is the one who causes a SUPPOSED division in the locker room

Go ahead & blame ROR for the StL slow start... even though he was the guy who was straight killing it to start the season
And he’s still doing really well

Get a grip dude

Please...
tell me more about how good Tage is

You guys are hysterical at this point
And not on a funny way
In a “he’s barely a #4” kinda way

Once again. The return could have been much better. However, ROR was on the trade block for the better part of a year and that was the best return we could get for him so that says a little bit about his perception league wide don’t you think ? Say what you want about Tarasenko’s point totals but ask anyone league wide and they will tell you he’s a superstar. His mere presence on the ice helps players around him just like Eichel’s does to allow Skinner that much time last night to get the puck and bank it in last night for his goal. ROR had 3rd line 5v5 offensive production and played 23 minutes a night. Idc how many defensive zone starts the guy has when you play that many minutes you need to produce at even strength. He played with E.Kane and Reinhart and yet it didn’t seem to make a difference.

We would’ve wasted yet another year of his prime here this year and probably next.

Literally anyway you spin it moving on was the right thing to do.

Tage Thompson and Josh allen are both raw prospects. One gets bashed to shreds because he isn’t producing playing in his first full NHL season. The other had the worst stats by a QB in the NFL last year. One has accuracy issues hitting the net, the other couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with a football. Yet for some reason Tage is a write off and has no chance of being a top 6 fwd for us and Josh allen is leading the Bills to the playoffs this year. If Josh Allen can develop and improve his accuracy why can’t Tage put on 15-20 pounds and develop with more experience as well ? Yea we lost the trade after 6 months without knowing what we have in the first rounder or the prospect..........

Josh allen took his team and led them by hurdling defenders and setting all time Bill's qb rushing records.

He was picked early and in my opinion, looked really good. He played with a chip on his shoulder and played the game physical. Guys looked up to him. He was surrounded by non stars aside from shady.

Tage Thompson took his team to 7th last place. Cant hit the net, looks slow and doesn't use his size or toughness to do anything. He looks disinterested.

He was picked in the 20's a couple years ago in the first round. Were not building a franchise around him. He was a throw in. Tage is surrounded by high 1st round picks.

See the difference.

Over the last 3 years McElhinney has the 2nd best save % in the NHL.

Seriously.

- BINGO!

Yeah I know. He ranks up there with Khudobin, Lehner, Halak, Hutton, Greiss, etc., etc.

My point is that every dog has his days, stats-wise. In the long run he’s an average goalie that won’t win you anything. Buffalo makes these guys look like Vezina winners game in and game out.
