have you seen the last 10 games?

2-7-1
lost last 6

they could go 1-10-1 in the last 12 games

Michael- great right up as always.

What if they fire housley and win 6 or 7 games out of the last 12? Under a new coach.

Wouldnt it be better to draft 5th or 6th, then fire him?
Maybe end with 77 points . 3-7-2 finish

I think there is very little chance that this roster will climb the standings in the remaining games no matter who is coaching.

And even if they do, I cant see a real difference in the quality of player they can draft in the spot they'll have losing out and winning out.

On the other hand, I think there could be a real difference in the way the team starts the season next year if they go out with a positive/successful end to the season in contrast to just losing out.

I know the Sabres haven't scored in almost 100 minutes, but they still play Detroit ( 2), new jersey, and ottawa (2) more times.

No way we lose 4 of those 5 games

I appreciate your opinion, but I'm blaming most of the sh!t show on phail.

Other coaching changes this year have yielded immediate success.

% towards the lottery also plays a part in the finishing spot.

I've read up on the prospects and sure they are jumbled around. Maybe real gm's have players ranked in a different order. Jbotts may really like 4 or 5 guys, then feels there is a drop off?

veteran forward Jason Botterill brought up playing for 'pride' which is about all that's left on the season but even his words rang hollow.

When did bott's sign himself to play for us ? Lol Anyways nice write up man.

i'm tired of the losing and am sure this group of players is too...let's stop the bleeding now, imo...that is, of course, if t-pegs and botts plan on showing phil the door

My sense is that Botts didn't do enough to build a roster with a hard attitude, and Housley compounded it by failing to get any hard attitude out of the guys he had.

My real point those is that with 13(?) games left in the season, and the teams that are in or close still trying to win every game, the standings won't vary much even if we somehow, miraculously, win all 13 remaining games.

the sabres have two 2nd-overall picks, a 1st-overall plus an array of other first-rounders on the team and it's gotten them how far?

If you win all 12 games you have left, you'll finish with 93 points, which likely won't be enough to make the playoffs, but would get you somewhere around 13th or 14th overall.

At least you don’t have to buy like 20 GI Joes or 30 boxes of cereal to get it.

I don’t know about “no way”. This team has quit and just can’t wait for the season to be over. No use exerting yourself and getting injured for offseason.

And the scoreless drought is almost 200 minutes.

3 or 4 would be max.... No way they win more than that, nor should they. They should end up 5th-7th

Yeah, that’s totally an antiquated expression now. There must be a more modern way to say “lazy, disinterested and indifferent”.

Not to bring this to the Canes, but consider that the team traded away Jeff Skinner, Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin this summer and now have as many points this year as they finished the season with last year.

A lot of that is on the attitude from the top down in the organization. From the owner on down the message has been that "This isn't good enough" and they've pushed hard to make sure everybody bought in. If you didn't, you got fired, waived, traded, whatever. It applies to management, marketing, ticket sales, the training staff, everybody.

You're either being held accountable by Tom Dundon or by Rod Brind'amour/Justin Williams.

Having everybody in the organization pointed to a singular goal and busting their ass to do it has paid huge dividends, even though you can make a pretty good argument that this team isn't as talented as last years' was.

For the Sabres, there's gotta be more of a push from the top down to get everybody on the same page. From an outsiders' perspective It just seems like there are too many people who are too willing to accept that the team isn't very good and it's not their fault.

from Harrington:

New at [BN] Hockey: Jack is back, hoping to prevent #Sabres from making dubious offensive history. BUF is first team since 1929 shut out three straight times in consecutive seasons. No one has been blanked 4 in a row since '67-68 Oakland Seals. Seriously.
