That's an interesting take, perhaps it was media speculation, but I had thought the ball was in Sedins court, who wanted to play only if they thought they could still be difference makers. - belcherbd
Their last season they looked so slow and soft. Can you imagine what the twins would be like if they had played five more years beyond retirement. |

True, true. But I've ridiculed oiler fan for talking endlessly about potential with very little in the form of results to show for it. I'm not about to turn into oiler fan because we have some individually skilled players on our team or in our system.
Lets see what the team does with all this potential before we get too excited about the future. - bloatedmosquito
The only one on that list for me who is potential is Joulevi and he showed he could put up points in Utica, which is hard to do. The rest showed they are bonifide NHLers at the very least and difference makers at bsst.
Otherwise I agree with not getting excited about prospects too early. I get excited when they perform in the AHL or NHL.
Lind and Dahlen are probably the biggest disapointments this season for me but still time for improvement from Lind and Karlsson to develop.

When did they not look slow, I've never gotten behiind the soft label though.
They definitely hurt the team defensively the last couple seasons though. |

When we talk of speculation there is no way to prove it. We all know the team wanted them back for at least one more year but I have a feeling when they signed Loui I think they wanted multiple years of Olympic magic. |

I think its likely more than kincaid but definitly not what people would want. An eddlie lack return perhaps a bit more. - belcherbd
Kinkaid has similar stats this season to Nilsson.
Only some Canucks fans would feel that Nilsson and Markstrom are equal. |

They were mediocre at best at 5v5, but they do miss them on the PP.
I always chuckled when people thought they were holding this team back on the PP. They were excellent PP playmakers, a great fit with Boeser/Vanek/Horvat as finishers.
Canucks were 9th on the PP last year and 25th on the PP this year |

Will Canucks be signing Keeper after they lose tonight?
I sure hope so. |

There is different forms of holding back. It may have been good for them Edler and the numbers for that year but how did it help Horvat or any other young player on team? It was a three man show. Same as playing all the better starts took away from other team mates chances and numbers.
Edler stinks on the PP and the Canucks are an entire new group trying to figure out a very poor system

They have never been soft nor particularly fast but that last season they were so easily stripped off the puck, couldnāt gain the offensive zone when previously they could at will, even thier cycle game was gone.
IMO, they lost the abilities that made them great so I canāt imagine another 5 years of that or worse. |

This is why I'm so damn interested in Minivan's top 10 list of Benning's greatest achievements. I get the feeling that Minivan won't produce it and will make up some lame excuse why he won't. - bloatedmosquito

You donāt have a little bit of concern for Brockās game? How about Peteyās ability to absorb punishment? How about Hutton and Markyās consistency?
Motteās not on my radar.
The only one Iām completely comfortable with is Horvat. Maybe Iām being overly pessimistic but I still have minor concerns about the rest. |

Keeper scored last night. Grant Hutton will be available after tonight too.
I haven't seen anyone mention it yet but Quinn's defensive partner in Michigan. Joseph Cecconi according to reports is going to free agency Aug 15th. Said he doesn't see a place for him in the Dallas ranks. |

I've never expected Boeser to be Hossa, so as long as he's outscoring his defensive miscues I'm not concerned. The PP sucking this year hurt his numbers more than anyone. He's not far off his pace from last year.
If anything I'm reassured Petey can handle the rigours of the NHL, he's taken his licks and continued to go to dirty areas. His scoring drying up was to be expected, hell I thought a 15-15 season fron him shoukd of been seen as an acomplishment.
Hutton is head and shoulders better than last year, same with stetch and Marky. Will they struggle again? Quite likely but I feel much better about them than last year.

Last year Boeser and Horvat stood to the side and waited for the puck. They were not part of the process of the generating the play. Both probably touched the puck less than seconds on average on the PP.
Sedins had decent numbers (not great ) except one or two years since 2012. They kept the team respectable but they also kept it from getting started on a rebuild.
They produced decent number but some years had 40 to 56 points . Respectable numbers but not top line 7 mil numbers.
There was both good and bad that came with the baggage and it was definitely time. |

Let's play a game then. See who can out last each other. I'll give you something JB has done well and you can counter. See who runs out of idea's first.
I take it back. I don't want too.
