I have no issues with Raffl as a 4th line player and actually think he is a solid choice there.

It's when he starts playing above that line , consistently, that it's not going to work.

i like Raffl. He is a good player for the 4th line who can move up in a pinch for a game or two. Can kill penalties.

Agreed which is why I just changed my post..
It's one he consistently is used above his level that it's diminishing returns.

I'm going to think outside the box here. Don't trade him and leave him at defense. Done deal.

I'm honestly not frustrated currently -- obviously, we all are likely disappointed with the season overall, but at some point, you have to try to be honest about where you are and most importantly, where you're going

This isn't an old team. They probably have an in-house solution to goaltending for (hopefully) the long-term. They have cap space, a No. 1 center, young defensemen including at least one who can play top-pair minutes and possibly another, other talented prospects and all of their draft picks.

If you're not making the playoffs, truthfully, this is about as good as it gets

We've seen this type of game so many times this season and no one should be surprised. Glad Jimmy v R picked it up at the end. He is currently on a tear.

Moving forward,

Hart in net.

D could use a solid top 4 guy but mostly set for 19-20.

All eyes on Frost and Ratcliffe in camp. Solid 3rd line additions possibly.

If we can resign Raffl at reasonable price and term, do it.

Add another sniper via trade or FA.

As bad as this season was, we are not that far off from being a contender. Lots of things to fall in place but most of the pieces are there. G is getting older. Time is now.

I think there’s a decent chance we see Rubtsov up with the big club next year. He seemed to be having a good season before his injury and given his status as a 1st rounder, he’ll be given every opportunity for a bottom six role.

I wonder how much the Flyers will play Morin or Carter henceforth.

At least they have the hotties and the muppet!

I hope they resign Talbot. I would be ok with Raffl too. He isn’t a great player but for a depth (13th forward/4th line player) he has value since he can play all 3 forward positioning, good skater, and can play on all 4 lines (for a short period 3-5 games he can be effective on the 1st line but is better as a 3rd/4th liner (2 yr at 2m per). The rest of the UFA’s would not Be offered a contract

They need 3 forwards. I like TK, Giroux, Couts, Voracek, Lindblom and Patrick as a top 6 and JVR on the 3rd. I like Hartman and Laughton on the 3rd/4th. The other 3 can be a free agent/bringing up a kid (Vorobyev/Rubtsov/Frost/Radcliffe??).

I hope they play Morin the next 11 games. They need to see what they have. If he shows well I am ok with a mid-level defensemen signing (good solid veteran type). I would also approach Karlsson. If you sign Karlsson Ghost becomes useless! So my top 4:
Provorov Sanheim
Karlsson Myers
And I like Hagg and Guda as a 3rd pairing and penalty killing.
7th defensemen:
Morin or MacDonald.

UFAs- Raffl, Knight, Varone, Talbot, Elliott, Neurvirth, Lehtera, Vecchione, Goulbourne, Bardreau, Froese, Carey, McKenna

NHL Roster: Giroux, Voracek, Van Riemsdyk, Couturier, Laughton, Patrick, Lindblom, Konecny, Hartman, MacDonald, Gostisbehere, Gudas, Hagg, Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, Myers, Hart

Phantoms: Schlemko, Rubtsov, Vorobyov, Laberge, Twarynski, Kase, Bunnaman, Bailey, Aubé-Kubel, Friedman, Willcox, Brennan, Graves (RFA), Lyon

Sliding: Zamula,

Incoming: Frost, Ratcliffe, Sushko, Strome, Sandström

So what do you want to see in the off season? Beyond the NHL roster I am hoping to see Allison and Laczynski signed. Not sure which D prospects are ready but based on the minor pro d prospects I am hoping there is at least one who will be signed. The phantoms will be a very young team next season. Which prospects will be ready for the Flyers (not sure which are no longer waiver exempt outside of Morin).

My wish list:
Forwards: Sign a 2c/3c center. Re-sign Raffl for close to what he is currently making. Hope 2 of Frost, Rubstov, Ratcliffe, Lascynski and Alison earn a spot on the team. Obviously Lascynski and Alison have to sign first.

Defense: Find someone to take MacDonald. Keep the rest as is.

Goalie: Look for someone better than Talbot to split time with Hart.

My guess:
They add a top 4 defensemen, sign Talbot, trade Ghost, and look for a top 6 forward.

My wish list: 1. Players learn to be aware of where their teammates are positioned on the ice; 2. Players learn how to make effective passes to other teammates; and 3. Players learn how to clear the puck from the defensive zone.

I like Raffl, but his usage this season and the fact that he hasn't been extended leads me to believe his days in the orange and black are done. Godspeed. Decent depth, utility player with size, speed, board work, and even fancy stats.

I have zero interest in Erik Karlsson. He's UFA and last season's cap hit was 7.5M. He's aging, has gone through some tough injuries, and quite frankly, the Flyers, in my opinion, have players that can do a lot of what he does, especially when you consider the growth and development of Sanheim and Myers.

Would love for them to go after and land Panarin. Whoever lands him will be paying top dollar to be sure, but I think it's absolutely worth it as the Flyers have a lot of the table set but the silver is a bit tarnished.

I'd be thrilled if they could sign Panarin. One question though, does signing Panarin keep G at center?

Pretty sure they want G on the wing.
That would give you G, Panarin and JVR as the top 3 left wings. Jake, TK and Oscar on right wing.
Coots, Patrick and Laughton down the middle.
Mot a bad top 9 to start with. Should be able to add better players to third line. Hartman and Raffl if he signs here are a good start.
