We live in a world with plants and animals too.

I think as a species, we’re finding different ways to sooth the soul other than to sit in front of a screen and be force feed advertisements from our corporate overlords.

I haven’t had TV for over 10 years and I honestly find it depressing seeing ppl do that. It can’t be good for health, mentally or physically.

It's a good point. But how are you viewing Leaf games?

I used to do that all the time back in the day. Set the vcr and avoid all radio and tv broadcasts, threaten everybody who tried to tell me the score.
But these days I don’t know how you could pull it off. Good luck

Well a Leafs vwin will not be a shocker that helps

I left my tv with my exgf eight months ago and haven't gotten around to buying a new one. Trying to minimize screen time for sure. Cycling, ping pong, skating, books, new wussy...can't get around to buying a set

YouTube..

Usually on a tablet..

I also stream a couple shows. I’m not against relaxing and enjoying TV, but I can’t sit there through commercials anymore.

I like some programming on Netflix and it is commercial free. What I try to avoid is over using the cell phone. Still find it amazing that people will pay $500 a ticket to see a concert and not bother watching, spend the entire show, texting friends, making a third rate videos of parts of the show instead of enjoying the moment.

Well said. I completely agree.

Crazy how most of the things people do, they’re doing it for the gram.

I was a kid in the fifties and we had a black and white with rabbit ears and the only channel available was CBC. My dad complained all the time that we spent too much time watching tv.
I think people aren’t watching as much tv now because they can’t put their smart phones down. Substituted one boob tube for another. I include myself in that group because I spend more time on this iPad than any sensible person should.

I listen to music on my iPhone, while watching the Leafs game on tv, as I post in here on my iPad. Who says men (birds?) can’t multitask?

You seem to suggest we have to choose one or the other...I can tell you, you don't have to.

Yeah. When I was a kid I the early 90’s we had a TV tower on the house and picked up 5 or 6 channels. I remember watching cartoons and hockey. But then we got 50 channels on cable, then satellite, then fibre optic etc.. but I went from cable to just streaming everything online. You’re not wrong tho. It started with my generation we usually had a desktop pc and a TV in the same room. So we prefer to chat with friends or whatever over sitting still and watching tv. Then iPhones changed everything. But, all that being said I think we’re seeing the pendulum swing back a little bit towards being a little less reliant on technology.

You do have to choose if you can’t afford both. TV isn’t appealing because it’s a waste of money. You can stream everything for free online.

There you go again...taking a somewhat self righteous path. Waste of money to you...not to me. I don't do drugs - saved my money up to buy a TV. See how that works.
You had the same opportunities I had, you chose a different path, does that make your lifestyle better than mine?

Thats horsesh!t, no one can tell intent, it happened two games in a row. Only reasonable way it was not a goal was if a Leaf dislodged the goal. Which wasn't the case in either game. The goalie was clearly in panick mode and successfully weasled out of a goal.(in both games)
- winsix

okay so how can you tell it was intentional if no one can tell intent?

I refuse to buy an iPhone because I don’t want to be connected when I leave the house. I like the outdoors, fishing, kayaking and other stuff. I carry an old flip phone for emergencies. But as soon as I get home the first thing I do is get online.
The internet is addictive even for old coots like myself.
