My fear with Hunter is his lack of experience with a cap. It seems like Dubas was more involved with the cap in Toronto and his time in the OHL has been sans cap. If only I knew exactly which acquisitions Toronto made were his and which were Dubas' and Lou's. - MaximumBone
Thats prob what gets most new gms in trouble. Keith seems to have a strong handle on the cap or they could bring some capologist to run the nunbers through.
You may like Nurse now,but when he starts asking for 6 mil in a years time will you feel the same ?
Good athlete, good teammate, low hockey IQ - oilpatch
It's certainly a point worth considering. To counter, he's been playing next to Russell all year on a pairing with two LD; fair to say that some of the chaos in his game is rooted from that situation. Would he look better on a pairing with someone who can make passes up ice?
If they do get mark hunter as gm might as well have dale be the head coach. No ties to ex oilers, tons of chemistry and communication, tons of minor league exp and success. - oil90
unfortunately dale hunter doesn't do a great job of promoting a skilled/posession game. He grinds gears with star players - see Ovi and his career-worst year. He's pretty much a young, low self-control version of what you have now. Lucic will love him, the skilled dudes will hate him.
Hope you guys get him. Him and Bouchard could be a good start to fixing that blue line depth - RafiDRW
It'd afford us some options in trading one of our existing LD. Two of Klefbom, Nurse and Sekera would be enough to act as shelter for Jones, Lagesson, Byram and Samorukov. Get a top-6 winger back for Nurse and avoid the risk with paying him big money when his spot on the PP unit is not likely to remain his role.
Larsson, Benning and an acquisition like Spurgeon or Savard would cover the bet on the right side while we wait for Bouchard and perhaps Bear.

Nurse is your best defensive trade bait at this point that doesn’t ruin the defense nor ruin the pipeline. I’d give up AA for Nurse+.

I'd need more than that to send him away. Swap Nielsen for Lucic and throw in your latest 2nd. - MaximumBone
AA is more valuable than Nurse, in my opinion. Lucic for Nielsen is negligible for both sides. Washes out with two washouts. Although, Nielsen is a center and a two way player on a better contract. So, if anything, the Wings lose that, too. Adding a second is just insulting.
Nurse, Lucic (50% retained), a second, and a third for AA and Abdelkader is more to my liking.

Gonna have to strongly disagree. Top-4 Dmen are more valuable than 2nd line forwards, especially when the Dman has some offense to his game as Nurse does. I like AA, but not for Nurse straight up. Both only have one year left on their contracts and both are due for raises so that's a wash.

I see Nurse as a strong second pairing dman. Top six center with insane speed and puck handling I think is more valuable but it’s six and one half dozen. Probably worth the same amount, honestly.

I guess I just view him as more of a winger. The majority of his time has been spent with Nielsen or Glendening and both are better on the dot and more nuanced defensive players (not an indictment to AA).
I think it's cute that you guys think you are still in it. Run the table and start planning the parade, I'm sure you could throw in winning the draft lottery as well.

Wow... you're a bigger idiot than a general flames fan. No one here thinks, nor expects our team to make it to the extra season. And to start the year majority of us didnt think we would go far if we got in. Now flames fans have a good regular season (while stumbling down the stretch) the new breed come along chirping. Bet when I make a comment at a bar you're one of the mouth breathers that honestly feel they are a contender with that combo in goal... but hey... enjoy a round or 2 while chirping. Winning 8th place is a great ribbon to enjoy.

The local sports team I arbitrarily picked to be my team is better than your local sports team you arbitrarily picked to your team!!!
