I mean, wow, Leafs add a LHD a month before the deadline when RHD was the main issue, not like they could possibly add more defensive depth (LHD or RHD) or anything like that anyways amirite lol

The whole reason the Leafs have pulled themselves out of the basement is because they were focused on drafting and developing with a vision on skill and speed. Shannahan made this clear multiple times. Keefe is developing players to play in the system Babs is implementing and Dubas is getting players to play in that style and system just like he said after the Petan trade. Now, having said all that, I do believe they all realize they aren't tough enough, and that's why they got Muzzin. IMO they need more of that to balance things out.

Why?

They have tons of bottom pairing depth. That’s a non issue. These last 10 games don’t matter. Rosen, Dermott, Borgman will be healthy for playoffs. That’s the depth. There is zero need to trade for defensive depth just to get an extra home game.

They traded for the best defensmen on the market and for a great price next year when Gardiner leaves.

Why?

Marincin should not be on an NHL roster, period. If even 1 LHD got hurt, he was the first one getting plugged in. Sure enough, Gardiner and Dermott go down and he's floating around on the main roster again. If the Leafs were serious about getting past the 1st round, the assets for that Muzzin trade should've been put towards a RHD. Dubas wanted his guy and he got him, but Babcock and him evidently aren't on the same page based on his usage.

You are flat out wrong. Babs even said he would want Rosen and Borgman up if they weren’t injured. Stop being angry about nothing.

And the second part

Come on man. You have no idea what teams want for RHD’s. It’s easy to say as a fan that Dubas should of traded for a RHD but he didn’t. Why? I’m not sure. I’m just a fan but I’ll bet a lot of money it’s because every team asked for Kapanen. And rightfully so.

That’s a no go for me.
