Same. I really don't want the Leafs to trade him.

Yes home games matter.
- Fakepartofme

I disagree. Playing one extra home game in the 1st round isn’t a big deal for me.

Marner is on record for saying he likes playing on the road better. It’s really not a big deal and you are knitpicking if you think it’s going to change a series.

If I had to choose would I choose home ice advantage? Of course. But if it doesn’t happen I really don’t care. It’s so far down on the list of what matters.

I’ll take a healthy team that goes into the playoffs playing their system well. That’s all I want.

Dermott was a Hunter pick.

I think Rasanen was, too. Marlies just brought him in/over from Finland, I think.

- GreatGigInTheSky

I dont know who was the one behind the Dermott pick, but we can give that to Hunter...he needs it

ok, so we are not attributing any pick to Dubas until 2018, thats fine.

as for Rasanen...seem like a very long shot and very many years away

here is pronmans ranking has him #10 before the TDL

10. Eemeli Rasanen, D, Kingston-OHL

Rasanen had a up and down second OHL season. He’s a physical monster. He’s 6-foot-7, plays hard, and projects that if he gets to the NHL level, to be one of the harder players to play against in the league. He couples that with good two-way instincts. He’s a quality penalty killer, who moves the puck fine due to his vision. The cons? A notable lack of offensive upside along with the fact his skating needs a lot of work. It’s hard to see his OHL offense translating to the pro game, where I think he’ll be more of a tough minutes/basic first pass-type of player.

I'm not going anywhere. After all, I'm not the Habs fan who posts in the Leafs thread like he owns the place. If there is someone who should go away, it isn't me.

Have to think that if a top 4 RHD was available at the same cost as Muzzin, that Dubas would have explored that option. I understand your point, it's great to have 3-4 really good LHD, but that does absolutely nothing for the right side.

To be honest, I think Muzzin was brought in for two reasons.
1) toughness, Cup winning experience.
2) replace Gardiner next season

We need moar speed/skill?

2 years makes no sense.

If you want to re-sign the guy you just traded for who only gets into games when there's an injury or when trying to shake the team up a bit, then one year is more than enough.

Hainsey is old and slow now, but no one else has been able to adequately fill that role or even get a chance to. No one is being sour lol, you're being dismissive because someone doesn't agree with your narrative. If you don't like it, there's no need to be a condescending twat. Just don't reply lol

You just told me to stop taking a discussion and turn it into an argument

I have no problem “arguing” which a lot of people get confused these days with debating. That’s all I am doing and it’s obvious you don’t like it. Which is why I said don’t reply if you don’t want to “argue”

Dismissive? You are the one calling me names. I’m not doing anything wrong here. If youd like to continue to “argue” I will because it’s a hockey site. But please be civil if you wish to continue. Or just don’t respond. It’s simple.

It’ll likely be close to league minimum.

To the point where it won’t cost anything to the cap if he’s sent down. If the Leafs want to pay someone 700k to play in the minors it’s not your problem.

Much like the Ennis deal there is nothing to complain about here.

Dubas probably sees something in him... Could he replace Connor Brown? If so, it's a good move if he is consistently in the lineup..

Dubas made the trade down because Hunter said Dermott would still be there come the pick they were trading back for. If he didn't think he would be, they would have drafted Dermott with the Konecny pick.

I don't know if Rasanen will pan out or not. Just that those drafts seemed to be entirely Hunter drafts.

@RobSilver
Vlad’s 90th percentile PECOTA projection: .349/.412/.588 161 DRC+

It’s one of the craziest projections I’ve ever seen written down.

I mean, Ichiro’s rookie season - when he was AL MVP - was .350/.381/.457

Ted Williams rookie season: .327/.436./.609 154 DRC+

is that good?

Part of the reason they couldn't trade for a RD after the Muzzin deal is they had so little cap space. Dubas wants the bonuses to count this year. So the only deal would have been salary for salary, and teams looking to move out UFAs or what have you want picks and prospects, not salary back. The only option was probably Nylander or Kap for someone, although we don't know. But even then, It would have to be Nylander because Kap makes the minimum and if it was say, Pesce, he's at 5 million. Leafs had no space. So if we want to criticize Dubas for having no space to make a move that is fair, but we can't say he had a move and just didn't make it.

That seems insanely high..

So, I really hope that it's accurate.

Numbers like that would be crazy, especially for a rookie.

Taking a spot on the 50 man roster.

It's minimal, I know, but I'd rather a guy from the Marlies get a shot than a guy that's not gonna play much.

Great contributions.

Don’t be mad that someone is “arguing” with you the next time you comment on someone’s post disagreeing with them.

Its not knitpicking, depending on the team, it could matter

If Brown does go, I would've hoped the Leafs could get home-grown Bracco in there instead of Petan. Not that it really matters though, I honestly like that Petan's getting a chance.
