It's a bit frustrating for sure, but he's still young. I wouldn't give up on any player developing fully until they are around 24/25 - joevthree
That’s fair
I’m just not a fan of Tage
Would love him to prove me wrong & become the 25 goal scoring winger we need |

OK here is my lane....Skinner has scored one goal in 14 games when the season was in balance...when we needed him most he didn't produce. PERIOD!! Seeing that he has scored at times before...its probably not a talent issue....but ...if he "works harder than any player on the ice" (WHICH I NEVER SAID)….then whats the problem??
Here is my lane....I would NEVER EVER EVER pay Jeff Skinner a penny over 7m/yr. The team he WAS on..never made the playoffs...and as soon as he LEFT..they are. The team he is on NOW ...got ONE GOAL out of him in the most critical stretch of the season (14 games)
So whether its talent, effort, or an extended stretch of Diarreah…..when he was needed most...he DID NOT DELIVER AT ALL!!! NOT AT ALL...ONE GOAL!!!
So if my lane is this...if it costs more than 7m/yr....I say...let him walk
There...that's my lane... - RippedFuel
Fair enough. You are entitled to your opinion.
Here's mine. If the Sabres let Skinner walk because he had a 12-14 game slump and won't pay him $8 million/season then that is extremely poor asset management. If they don't resign him, that's a huge chunk of the team's offense gone for nothing. Sure, they can sign another UFA to replace Skinner's goals, but whoever that player is will likely be getting a very similar contract if he's scoring at the same clip.
This team needs more scoring. Of course, the second and third lines need to contribute more, but losing Skinner would be a big step backward. They need to keep him and add another 25-30 goal forward.

People can talk about O’Reilly all they want but the fact of the matter is the Sabres have gotten the leagues worst goaltending since we were in 1st and the streak ended in November.
We’d be in the playoffs or playoff race with good goaltending - sbroads24
I'd partially agree with this.
I think if we got good goaltending and ONE other line scoring this is correct.
Without another line scoring, goaltending would have to be great consistently.
Just a feel, no numbers to back that up. |

This is true, and they need more guys who can score 15 than the boat load we have who struggle to reach that measly amount.
I'd also say that they need to bring in guys who have proven they have the smarts to play a system and not breakdown 10 times a game. This is a important as increasing goal scoring as it also tends to enhance the O anc the D effectiveness. For going on 4 years now, under two different coaches we have heard about how the players are challenged to play a system consistently...leading to goals against. Simp,y can't have it anymore. Time to unload the dumb players for the overall improvement of the team. |

Only when Ripped shows up. But if we got offered Cirelli, Segachev, and Callahan for Risto we totally should have done it |

Here’s something kind of crazy.
The year we started the tank or rebuild in 2014-15, we had the worst forward group by far in the league. Since then this is what we’ve invested in our forward core.
2nd overall pick 2014 - Reinhart
Myers- Armia - 1st rounder 2015, Stafford - 31st pick 2014 for Kane
2nd overall pick 2015 - Eichel
31st overall - JT Compher - Zadorov for O’Reilly
8th overall 2016 - Nylander
8th overall 2017 - Mittelstadt
2nd rounders - 3rd - Cliff Pu- for Skinner
Fast forward 4 years and we’ve invested 15 !! Assets (not including other draft picks we actually used on forwards) and we still possibly have a bottom 2-3 forward core.
That’s incredible

Can salary be retained on a player twice?
If so, perhaps we can launder KO's salary through an intermediary. Retain $2m to AZ for a 2nd/3rd, AZ retains $2m and KO plays somewhere for $2m.
Then we have $4m to get an actual player, not a husk of a formerly decent player |

Jerry Sullivan: Sam Reinhart has no goals in his last 10 games. He's due for one of his meaningless scoring surges over the last 10.
