you tend to get a bit more desperate when you're on the outside looking in i would think.

i think all Julien is looking for right now is guys who will (frank) up the least and hope to grind out a goal or two and have Price do the rest. it's why the 4th line played 15 minutes in a game where they had to kill 1 penalty. and it's why Kotkaniemi and Drouin are after thoughts at this point.

BTW - I have no problem at all with Thompson at center on the 4th line. But I don't see the upside to Jordan Weal, other than what we've been discussing - he's safe.

I've been pretty hard on Andrew Shaw ever since we got him.

But there's nothing wrong I can say about him this year. He's been great, good chemistry with Domi too.

And yeah.... Thompson and Weal have that quality of "not (frank)ing up" defensively... which explains why guys like Hudon, Deslauriers, Peca are not playing.
