I have no idea if Edmonton would even consider this - but how about a trade with the two main pieces being Saad and Nurse. Rumor has it that EDM would like a top-6 winger and Saad would fit that description. Nurse plays LD behind Klefbom so on the 2nd pairing - is he a true top-4 guy who would provide the type of defense the Hawks are looking for? He's got everything the Hawks would want in terms of long term investment - just don't know how good he is defensively. - EbonyRaptor
I posted this yesterday and got shillacked for it. I like Nurse's size and he's left handed as you mention. He also has a cap hit of 3.2 for next year, then he'll want more in 2020. I'd be in favor of this as well especially if they would include either AA or Murphy's cap hits to go along. That would free up $$$$$ to sign Panarin/Dzingel.

Agree and yes, no doubt change can be good. I would like Nurse, but not for Saad. Don't think Edmonton is shopping for Saads...more Nurse's...
I could be wrong... - TrueGrit
They need both. After DrySaddle, McDavid and RNH, their forward group is pretty bad. |

Dzingel has looked so mediocre in Columbus, so not sure how much you want to pay a guy who's career best year is 50 points. Duchene has also been less than impressive in the CBJ game's I've watched.
Nurse would be a welcome addition, but would much rather send prospects. I really like the element of speed, straight ahead, and strength that Saad brings to the team. The Hawks have nobody like him and he has a lot of value, evidenced by him being the centerpiece for an 80 point player in Panarin while only contributing about 50 points himself.... |

Edmonton doesn't have the cap space to take on a Murphy or Anisimov. God i hope the Hawks don't try sign Panarin |

Two way deals have nothing to do with waivers anymore. It's only the difference in pay between NHL and AHL. Waivers are based on age and amount of NHL games played now. - GPHawksfan

There was a recent Athletic article by Scott Powers that gave his status report and outlook on Blackhawk prospects. Here's a summary of where he projects each to be after this season:
LIKELY IN CHICAGO
Jokiharju
CHICAGO or ROCKFORD?
Delia
Forsberg
IN ROCKFORD
Carlsson
Entwistle
Fortin
Gilbert
Hagel
Highmore
R Johnson
Lankinen
Olofsson (signed recently)
Knott
Kurashev
Noel
Tuulola
LIKELY IN ROCKFORD
Beaudin (already signed)
Krys (not signed yet)
Kubalik (not signed yet)
Mitchell (not signed yet)
LIKELY RESIGNED & IN ROCKFORD
Ejdsell (rumor that he's going back to Sweden)
Hillman
L Johnson
Louis
T Sikura
LIKELY NOT RESIGNED
Campbell
Davidson
Holland
Martinsen
Nilsson
Schroeder
Watson
NOT UNDER CONTRACT & LIKELY LET GO
Bondra
Coughlin
J Dahlstrom
From (rights expire in 2020)
Peeters (rights expire in 2020)
Ramsey
Starrett
LIKELY STAYING IN NCAA/JUNIORS/EUROPE
Barratt
Boqvist
Ess
Foo
Galvas
Gravel
Hakkarainen
Laavainen
Massie
Nordgren
Ryczek
Shea
Slavin
Wise
NOT UNDER CONTRACT & ON THE FENCE
Soderlund
Nalimov
RUSSIANS UNDER KHL CONTRACT
Altybarmakyan (contract expires in 2020)
Kayumov (contract expires in 2020)
Shalunov (contract expires in 2020) - AEL_Fox
Olofsson was signed by Rockford. So he is not technically part of the Hawks. Its a PTO so it could be a case of a couple of things. Maybe the Hawks are conserving contract slots to sign collegiate UFAs. A case of seeing where is he is as far as NHL potential or just not burning a year of an ELC. |

True on Dzingel....
but remember that Strome was awful in AZ as well. Change of scenery to Chicago sure has helped him. It must be the heroic coaching of JC. My red font broke !!

Hope you don't mind, but I shortened your quote (which was a great one).
There's been a lot if discussion about which is Koekkoek, Forsling and Dahlstrom should return next season. The consensus seems to be two will stay and one will go. While all three might be re-signed I'd like to see only one of these d-men return, at most.
Keith, Seabrook, Murphy and Gustafsson will all return. If Jokijarju is added to the mix that leaves two spots available. I would hope Stan would upgrade one of the d-men via free agency or trade, that leaves one sport (likely 7D) open. - DarthKane
No worries and thanks for shortening my original post. Saves everyone from scrolling a ton. Not sure if Eklund provides us with short-term disability if we break our fingers browsing his website.
Agree, if Jokiharju is on the team, I'd prefer that a 2nd pair defender be acquired this summer and one of Dahlstrom, Forsling, or Koekkoek is the 7th man. Something like:
Keith - Jokiharju
OPEN - Murphy
Gustafsson - Seabrook
Dahlstrom/Forsling/Koekkoek |

Yeah I guess we don't want another 80 pt forward since we already have Kane. RFB.

Thanks for the info on Olofsson's contract. I knew he signed but didn't look up what type of contract it was.
Of the reports I've read on him, he's a physical forward who can chip in offensively. That screams bottom sixer to me. Whether or not he can stick in Rockford is the next step for him. He did get progressively better each year and heavily relied upon at Omaha-Nebraska. |

I actually waited for comments like this. This team leads league in PK, PP, almost +100 goal differential.
Vas has top 3 save percentage and second in shutouts, but hawk fans would pump the breaks on 1 goal, which meant nothing to them, as they handled the Caps a few nights ago at home.
By the way, the Lightning are playing for NOTHING while Caps fighting for home ice.
And in the end, with nothing to gain they won anyways.
This tampa team from top to bottom is one of the most complete teams of the last 20 years.
As Paul said, if they remain healthy, they will be tough to beat. - TrueGrit
For a team that was trying to send a message to the Caps last night, is they are somewhat the same team they were last year. Yes lots of talent, but the Caps won many board battles and Vas was a bit leaky. You can say they weren't but from my little eye, they were playing hard.
Who knows maybe the Caps will be out in the first round, we'll see. There's a big difference between a team that should win the cup and a team that has won the Cup. The Caps needed OT and 3 friendly goal posts to get by the Penguins
I still remember how much trouble the Canucks had with the Blackhawks and we traded half our team away in 2010-11 |

Want or need? Scoring does not seem to be the problem, getting scored on is. Panarin is not going to help keep the puck out of the net, so unless you are unloading Saad for a shutdown top pair defenseman, I also think it is a lot of money for something that is already the "strength" of the team.

Well I haven't mentioned this for about a week, but try to get Miller or McNabb from Vegas. They could be some of their cap casualties.

I think you missed it, but TB has sent a clear message to every team in the NHL this year. Including the Caps, who they beat soundly at home 4 days ago and again last night. You can split the hairs as you like, but clearly the Caps are the ones with something to prove and gain....playoff positioning.
Without Vas they lose 7-4...anyways...it will all play out in another month. |

Tampa hasn't done squat this season... yet. They've racked up a ton of points and look unbeatable going into the playoffs, like many President's Cup teams have over the years. Our 2013 team was the last PC winner to hoist the Cup and they needed a huge 2nd round comeback from down 3-1 against the Wings. The records of the final 16 will all reset to 0-0. |
