Todays owners care about having the seats paid for. That's it. Grow the game, (frank) that. - bixll
Gonna disagree while agreeing with you (I am Canadian).
The successful US franchises have done a great job of pumping money into getting kids to play the game - which ultimately is great for building a new generation of fans. |

One of the great things about being good at playing the guitar is that it makes the ladies itchy down there. |

Remember taxi terrorist from Jackass? When they shaved their pubes and stuck to that guy’s face? Marchy post a picture of Pastranak’s beard along with a picture of taxi terrorist and said who wore it better?

This is an interesting conversation to me. I think you could be right in that prices may affect the younger generation's attendance. So will comprehension.
When I was little and just starting to watch hockey, you really only had Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday. The broadcasters certainly liked the Habs, but the bias wasn't anything like you see today. They called the game and instructed you on the game as it went. I remember understanding the basic premise of the rules in pretty much no time, and I had a clear understanding of a penalty, and even how Refs would go about making certain judgement calls.
These days, after over 40 years of watching hockey, I wonder how CLEAR icing calls are. How CLEAR a penalty call is? Especially when you have regional broadcasters who muddy the waters of what a good call is with home-team biases.
I honestly think things like this hurt the game - because you never fully get passionate about it.
As a related example, my wife and I had seasons tickets to the Toronto Rock for nearly a decade. In that time, I was never 100% certain what was and wasn't a penalty and why sometimes plays were stopped with a change in possession. I understood the root behind the rule, but never knew when I was allowed to be outraged by a missed call. Or even if a call was missed.
As such, I could get into the emotional draw of the game, and the excitement. But it was NEVER anything like hockey, where you just _know_ the game. |

Well, all three aren't good defensively. Especially Gardiner and Karlsson. - GreatGigInTheSky
Burns used to be a winger, we all want Gardiner to play the wing because he can't be much worse as a LW
Karlsson is a good skater, Gardiner is a good skater. |

No. I'm only talking about Marchand. He posted a picture of a guy wearing pubes as a fake beard and compared it to Pasternak's.
If people wanna be angry at Jackass, that's different. But people getting angry at Marchand are stupid, in my opinion. |

Was that the discussion last night?
'Cause I was just joking that all three aren't good defensively, so in a way they are comparable. |

That's just Marchand being Marchand. I doubt he means anything else by it. |

Yeah, had fun with it too for a while.
