Sure it's his place. If he is wearing a Leafs jersey it's his place to speak about how the team needs to play with more effort and emotion.

And look at this first period. They're doing exactly that, even if they're losing, so either the others heard what he said and realized he was right, or they were all thinking it before hand anyways.
