A few thoughts:

1. First and foremost, I'm supposed to be the grumpy old bastard here. Get off my lawn.

2. For all the doom and gloom around here, the Leafs are still 6th in the league.

3. The only team that can punt the Leafs out of the 3-slot is the Habs. If the Leafs go 3-6 for the rest of the year, the Habs would have to go 7-1-1 to overtake us.

That's not happening.

Buffalo is going to have the longest playoff drought in the NHL once Carolina makes it this year. Could be a lot worse. I'd enjoy it if I were you guys, don't take it for granted.

Currently flirting with your 1976-77 Habs points total record, Scabby.

(Yeah, I know, not the same. Why in my day, a tie was a tie, and you wore one to the games...)

Meh, we're in the playoffs, but have been a .500 team since January.
Thank gawd, they kicked butt in November or we'd be on the outskirts

While we agree it's not the same.

It's still impressive.

Just like last year, when Florida had to go something like 12-0 to catch the Leafs and do you 'member how many people thought Florida could do it?

A couple of weeks ago, my daughter told me she didn't like licorice.

It was a dark, dark day.

I get the sense that they didn't expect the rest of the league to study their game and find ways to break up their plays. Well, everyone else appears to be up to speed now and gets what the leafs are trying to do each night. It's like they're not evolving with that process. I am thankful that this is happening now though, when they have time to get back on track.

Doesn't Babcock make in game adjustments? Or is he like Vingeault in that respect?

Yes he does, but I'd still fire him so Roger Roeper and I could be friends again.

I don't believe dubas has the authority to fire Babcock.

Babcock will be there a couple more years then fired.

Not having Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall on the backend doesnt help his cause.

Not without discussing it with Shanahan first, you're probably right. But that's also true in most organizations.

But in the end, it would still be his decision.

Babcock would just send Dubas to his room and take away his telephone.

Not in the least. Firing senior level management would be a board level decision, the most that Dubas could do would be to suggest it.
