From what I've seen of him he plays a nice simple game, a good third pairing guy who can give you reliable minutes and he's got some grit.

I'm no Benning booster and I question his top 10 picks but he's shown his pedegree with his later picks.

Forsling, Tryamkin, Demko, McCann, Boeser and Gaudette all look like NHL talent. And he has a number of others in Brisbois, Lockwood, Depietro, Rathbone and Madden who look like like better picks than when they were first picked.

Obviously, a number of these guys no longer play play for the canucks or never will but should still be considered examples good drafting IMO.

Edit. Woo probably belongs on that 2nd list as well over a pt per game in his d+1 is very impressive.

Sorry, but this kind of nonsense is laughable, literally every team has found middling players like Brisebois, Gaudette and Tryamkin in the third round and beyond. If this is what we're hanging our hat on regarding Bennings wonderful drafting ability, we're in trouble.

As for the rest of those guys, again, every team has a Lockwood, Dipietro, Rathbone they think are going to be great players, like you, but they rarely turn into anything.

Facts are, in the last four drafts only Boeser, Pettersson and Gaudette have played more than 10 NHL games.
