I heard about this last winter, when I jokingly called him clank
kept it to myself for 14 or 15 moves due to the love affair people have with him
again he is a very good player, before anyone changes my words - homiedclown
It also could just be that he needs to grow up a little
Guys will argue & get on each other when the losses are piling up
Doesn’t mean they hate each other
Winning games will squash A LOT of that kinda stuff in the locker room |

Hard to figure out what Minny will do
They’re stuck with the Parise & Suter contracts...
so it kinda keeps them in “win now” mode
But they gotta realize they just can’t really compete with the Preds & Jets
Maybe moving the younger Vets like Spurgeon, Zucker, etc would be the best way for them to rebuild on the fly? - jdfitz77
They had a trade in place to send Zucker to Calgary at the deadline apparently for a 1st rounder + but it fell through. Can’t remember the reason behind it. |

Reason is uncertain. However Russo, Lebrun, Dreger all mentioned something was there. |

Zucker is definitely a guy I’d look at
Can score 25+ and has really good speed
He just turned 27
And he’s under contract at 5.5m per,
for 4 more seasons
As long as the price is right,
he’s pretty much exactly what we are looking for |

But is the team going to win next year? Or is it going to be another tank season from JB?
Considering how most every player on the roster now is under contract for next year as well. |

They’re gonna have to pay Tkachuk in the offseason
And Hammonic & Brodie after next
Plus figure out goaltending somehow
That Neal contract is gonna hurt them |

Impossible to say
I don’t think this season was a “tank” year at all
I think the goal was to compete for the playoffs
But this year has gone so poorly,
that if we lose Skinner...
“Tanking” for Lefreniere has to at least be a consideration unfortunately
If we keep Skinner...
then i think Botts continues to add to the team now |

We’ll have 28M in cap space I believe even with the guys we have signed through next year. Additions can be made. The Sens have all the cap space in the world so maybe they’ll take Scandella/Sobotka to hit the cap floor and help them tank next year. |

Careful...to suggest this wasn’t a tank season could imply that a misstep might’ve been taken by Botts. |

planned on berglund and casey to be 2nd and 3rd line center
no plan B when berglund didn't pan out and casey wasn't ready
and honestly during the 10 game win streak, casey looked like he was ready to step up
his game just fell off the planet after that game winning shoot out goal |

if skinner walks
you almost have to move risto, bogo, and consider tanking with a few young kids up front
to compete in the fall, they need to add to the top 6, not have one of their 3 fixtures in the top 6 walk |

When jbotts didnt make a trade to upgrade this roster after the 10 game win streak, he showed his hand.
He easily could have traded futures to win this season.
He didn't.
Montour was a good addition. He isn't keeping us from drafting top 10 |

Additions through free agency could be tricky. Players might want an overpayment to go to a perennial loser. Although I suppose someone could be sold on a one year deal if they feel like they could pad their stats playing with Jack.
JB so far hasn’t demonstrated an ability to get other teams to take his cap dumps. Rather, he seems more inclined to take them on from other teams. |

Options are few and far between. It will be interesting to see how Botts plays it out. |

Botts plan for THIS season was an utter failure
That’s plain & simple to see
Mitts & Tage still need developing
Berglund & Sobatka were pretty much useless
Sheary only worked out when he played with Jack
Rochester doing well at least
So he gets points for that i guess |

The success of the Amerks is a feel-good story, but I wish they were led by good young prospects instead of 30 year old career AHLers. |

Pomms is done after this year. Wild had to buy out Ennis. Foligno provides next to nothing with the Wild. Scandella is gone after next year if he isn’t moved this offseason. |

How much does a contract for Trouba cost?
Something in the area of 7mil per would be my guess
That’s pretty pricy imo
I’d call Anaheim back up & see if they wanna make more changes this offseason
Minny has gotta be about ready for an overhaul too I’d think - jdfitz77
Risto + might equal a Trouba contract, or come close to it. Even if it doesn't, Risto + for one of the game's better Dmen is a no-brainer. Which is why Winnipeg doesn't do it. |

In addition to the 2 top6 guys we moved last year
Losing Skinner will hurt,
but it might be best for the long term
Sucks bc Toronto got good so quick
And we were hoping we’d have a Pittsburgh/Chicago rebuild
But look how long it took Tampa to win with Stamkos & the Caps to win with OV
Doing this thing RIGHT might take a bit longer than we all thought / were hoping for |

Trouba has made it known he wants out of Winnipeg numerous times. Unless he has changed his tune the last couple of months. The Risto + was mostly sarcasm on my end but who really knows these days. |
