Kucherov, Point, a bottom 6, and 2 more quality d-men along with a Vezina quality goaltender. I think we have our version of Stamkos and Hedman with Eichel and Dahlin in a few years once Rasmus is developed. Reinhart and Skinner are good/great players but not elite. The cup contenders have a few “elite” players so to speak. We really need 3/4 of Mittelstadt, Thompson, Nylander, Olofsson to develop into top 6 quality players or at least be moved in a deal to get that said player.
- Pegullaville

Kuch, = sam
Point= mitts
Bottom 6 = asplund, smith, oloffson, pommer, nylander and okposo
2 more d = risto, montour

BOOM

6K = Top 5 goalie

We're all set

Bledsoe for the good years.

I remember going to the Pittsburgh game vs. Their backups. All we needed to do is win.

Last week of the season to get in the playoffs.

We sucked
Willie parker ran all over the bills.

Silver lining:

Picked willie in both fantasy drafts.

I'm pretty sure $ isnt an object with the pegulas.

Stevie y would be a great choice

I think his ties and young family is going to lead him back to Detroit

How much are you offering him?

Wonder if the the pegulas would be comfortable giving up control of hockey operations.

I think that's kinda the fun of buying a sports team.
They have run some successful businesses, maybe being a sports team owner is different?

- Boss34

Whatever it takes really
Idk what “Team Presidents” make?

Let’s say Detroit were to offer him 5mil for either GM or Team Pres
I’d start at 7.5mil and be willing to go to 10mil- with whatever perks & bonuses he needs
Give him tix to a Bills suite
Allow him use of the private jet so he can zip to & from Detroit whenever he wants
Even allow him to “work from home” so to speak
It’s not like he needs to be in his office in Buffalo from 9-5 on M-F
So much is done by internet/phone now anyways

Yzerman would bring an excellent reputation
Cup wins as a player
Hall of Fame career
And a proven track record of how he’s built Tampa into a winner

Kinda sounds like what we need to bring some credibility to the Sabres

Offer the Tampa scouts 50% raises too
And let him build this thing right

After all,
“If i need more money, I’ll dig another well”

Would the Pegulas be willing to give up the control?
Tough to say

I don’t recall these rumors about them meddling from the start
Maybe they just got so sick of watching others screw it up, that they needed to step in
Maybe for them,
It’ll take someone with the resume of Yzerman for them to be comfortable enough to back off

I’d assume they were willing to do so for Babcock, or he wouldn’t have seriously considered coming here

Of course,
this is all total speculation on my part

It makes sense to me
But there’s no way to know for sure

Messier was a d!ck, too. And Lindros.

If they want to win, some of "those" teammates will learn to get over it. They don't have to be friends. They have to be good teammates and play the system.

Triggered.
Nope, not going to happen with this loser group of players.
Not until Botts gets rid of the idiots who simply aren't smart enough to p,ay within a system in a team game. Too many who go rogue.
Rather than dumping g high cost players, Botts should be focused on addition by su traction of dumping those with low Hockey IQs....there is 2 seasons of work to be done there.

I enjoy most of your post Boss, but the Sabres have 1 and hopefully soon 2 pieces on par with the Bolts.
Kucherov is better than Jack, let alone Sam. Sam can't match Point either.
Eichel is a good match with Stammer as you pointed out. Hopefully, Dahlin rivals Hedman.
And then, you would be very challenged to find suitable matches.
I'm sure I'll hear Montour...but he is a bit better than Sergachev.

Good stuff in this post Fitz.
In a Cap controlled league, creating the best Front Office and Scouting department is a smart and effective way to maximize the opportunity for championships.
Botts has had 2 Drafts, 1 very early in his position...and he has done relatively well. Last years seems to be pretty, pretty good.
I'm not sure how much they overhauled the Scouting Departmdnt, but they seem to have improved under Botts, so far. I know the expanded with more scouts in Europe, but did they improve upon other that were there?...I don't know the answer other than the results so far seem better.
I think Botts is a smart guy with excellent experience for past 7 years or so...that said, having another layer there with outstanding experience would add tremendous value to the off-ice organization.
Pegulla's are obviously smart, why they haven't yet figured it out is beyond sound reasoning.

I said earlier, 16 months. Another year, rid themselves of some unsavory contracts.

Jack isn't going anywhere, though, so anyone who sticks around or comes in here better know that and just play (frank)ing hockey.

I’d say Sam and Skinner are probbaly a step up from Tyler Johnson or at least a shade better. Mittelstadt I was hoping could be our poor man’s version of Point, but until that happens we don’t habe a Point or Kucherov. Tampa’s bottom 6 is infused with so much talent they would easily make the 2nd line on a lot of teams in the league. As well their defense and goaltending is miles ahead of ours. As promising as UPL looks we won’t know how good he is until he plays the games and develops.
